I thought this tour was amazing. Really enjoyed the tour design/lights and thought the new songs sounded stronger live. But to each his ownPandemonium wrote:Yeah, I don't regret opting to blow off this tour. Apparently the LA show will be released in it's entirety on dvd/Blu-ray in early April but based on the stuff being shown, I'm not even sure I will spring for the disc. About the only thing I can pick out that's a major (new) positive from this tour is Pino Palladia's bass playing.Six7Six7 wrote:It is by far the most boring tour he's ever done. I walked out of the Tension show about 3/4 into it.
I do wish I had made it to one of the LA area Pearl Jam shows though. That turned out to be a really tough ticket and I didn't want to spend the extra bucks getting a floor GA off a reseller.

Re: nin
I think the visuals didn't go with the songs, and that the songs he played were fucking BORING. Seriously did we really need to hear the entire new album?
For half the songs, Robin Finck wasn't even playing guitar.
Let me say that again:
ROBIN FINCK WAS ON THE STAGE BUT NOT PLAYING GUITAR.
You don't take a guy like that and ask him to play keyboards on Copy of A or Came Back Ha-Ha-Haunted or any of the other shit songs on the shit new album. You say "hey, Robin, We're In This Together, aaaaand GO!"
Lights in the Sky was 1000 times better. The band was better, the setlist was better, and the visuals were better.
Wave Goodbye was better.
The With Teeth tour was better.
Fragility was better.
the TDS tour was better.
And I wasn't there but from what I have seen i'll bet the Broken and PHM tours were most certainly better.
No free passes. You don't get to replace good songs with shitty ones, but throw in a light show, and get praised for it. This isn't Pink Floyd. This is Nine Inch Nails. Peel my face off or you failed.
If I had paid 30 dollars for that ticket I would be disappointed. But I paid 100, and that is what he served up? A glowing pile of shit?
FUCK YOU TRENT.

It is, but I do agree with 6767 that a lot of songs in the current set lack energy. Not just the one's off the new album, but the choices from previous albums that are being played this tour. I think Trent plays guitar for maybe 4 songs max. Clearly, it's a conscious decision by Reznor *not* to include more angry, guitar-driven songs like Heresy, Last and so on sticking with the few usual set staples like Head Like a Hole, Wish, Hand That Feeds for the occasional "go psycho" moments but unlike say, the Fragile tour which had a well balanced set of both heavy thrasher tunes and quieter, more introspective moments, this tour seems to go too far in the wrong direction. I'm just not that big of a fan of the early 80's techno/new wave genre that Trent has embraced this time around.guysmiley wrote:I just watched the new video on nin.com. I liked the show. It's a full band behind laptops, lol!Mescal wrote:So, NIN are coming to Belgium somewhere in May I think.
I was thinking about going.
Are they worth seeing on this tour? Are they a full band, or is it basically just Trent behind his laptop?
The album and tour have really divided the fanbase. Some are raving about the overall production, some are bagging on the fact that's it's kind of the same old same old, only with less guitar-driven "rawk" songs in the set with sucky new blippity-blip songs. Most agree new bass player Pino Palladino who's been in The Who since Entwistle died is the MVP of the current lineup.
If you haven't seen them before or it's been a long time, go. If you've seen every tour and are not impressed with the new album, this may be the tour to skip.
Re: nin
Well, I've seen em in 2007 in a pretty small theatre (1500 people) and it is in my top 3 as best shows I've ever seen! Was the first time I saw them and I was literally blown away. Really great.
I've seen em 2 other times at a festival and it was meh.
Now they're coming in a bigger theatre (+- 5000 people), so, if it's gonna be like the show I've seen in 2007 - Yes please. If it's gonna be like the festivals - meh.
I like their rock songs the best .... not so much bleep bleep

Except....he likes Homme for some weird reason and respects him. As opposed to he and Cornell snipping one another in public like little bitches.Six7Six7 wrote:Trent knows he doesn't bring the rock, so he is touring with bands (QOTSA/Soundgarden) who do.
