RHCP
Re: RHCP
i think juana's right, considering the fact that bot guitarrists got snatched from bob forrest adds up to that pattern.
still john was a young prodigy when he joined and josh is a thirty year old player with quite some session work on his back.
i like josh's overall playing, i got to see him playing with pj harvey and even though i had no idea who he was back in 2003/4 i was very ipmressed with that guy playing in such a dark manner, and switching ocasionally to a 2nd drumkit.
then came all of john's solo albums and though i'm not sure when he's playing what, those 2005 albums are pretty solid in my opinion. so is the empyrean.
plus, his work with bob forrest is very pretty too.
he's a fine musician. if his horizontal way of understanding music has a positive influence on rhcp's songwriting remains to be seen. but i've seen on youtube some of his playing on john's songs and i'm not disappointed
just wait for Larry B to show up and shit on everything i've just said

Great critique. We'll see, and can't wait to.....Matov wrote:i think juana's right, considering the fact that bot guitarrists got snatched from bob forrest adds up to that pattern.

Re: RHCP
I admit, I wasn't into this single at first but I'm liking it more and more. The video is ok. How many times have we seen the band on the rooftop. Josh is aping Froosh a bit but he kinda does that when I've seen video of him playing with Bob Forrest. Froosh loved Hillel and copied his style heavily on MM. Josh is doing the same although as was said already he's not the virtuoso that John is and was at that time.

I'm With You is streaming in its entirety on their official website at 3 PM EST. Heard a few preview clips on the radio, one song sounded really promising, the rest were just decent. Sounded like a lot of slow tempo stuff from what I heard.
Re: RHCP
on second and third listen I actually like the chorus for some reason, best new song of theirs I've heard til now by farMatz wrote:I really like the first verse, very surprised at how dark sounding it is, but the chorus is laughable
Re: RHCP
Someone mentioned "maturity" here in regards to JA and the Chilis. We can equivocate on that word all day, but this is worth mentioning....
Josh Klinghoffer, prior to any recording, was promised equal writing credit for this album.
The Chilis have always split in equal proportion the revenues from album sales, merch, and tours....with a % going to charity.
Bad ass guys.
Best ever IMO.

Sorry, considering the context of PF, I should mention the promise was followed through on without a hiccup.SR wrote:Someone mentioned "maturity" here in regards to JA and the Chilis. We can equivocate on that word all day, but this is worth mentioning....

Man, first listen and I'm really digging Monarchy of Roses.
