I’m confused by the string of comments after this post.
Am I the only person who interpreted this to mean he’s been recording for Jane’s?

Do you guys have that boot where Jane's is touring down south and Dave breaks out a quick riff of Sweet Home Alabama, pretty based.

Well, Dave is back.
Whose turn is it to mess this up now?

Yeah but in what capacity? Album contributor? Full time member in the studio and on the road?

Honestly, all I really care about is getting him in the studio to be the sole contributor on an official follow-up to Ritual. I really don't want a "Jane's Addiction" patchwork of an album with a revolving door of guitarists.
I saw the original Jane's in their original heyday, so I will survive if Dave never tours with them again.

I don't think it's a coincidence that all this is getting posted just as Perry finished up with PFP.
First tour date is in 2 months. And I don't remember them rehearsing for more than a week or 2 for tours in the past. Especially since they have played these same 12 songs 1000 times.
I think they're returning to the studio together. It's way too soon for rehearsals for the live shows.

Seems to me the band is recording/rehearsing while Perry is South America for Lollapalooza. It’s cool that they can work while he’s away- the songs must be pretty far along

On Monday there was a question on Jeopardy featuring David Navarro.
The topic was TV Reality:
From 2012-20 Dave Navarro hosted this series that had episodes like "Drill Baby, Drill!"
Only one guy even took a shot at it but answered wrong with 'What is Black Gold'? He lost $800 bucks. Looking back it was a pretty good guess considering the episode title.

Yeah that’s an odd episode title to use as a clue.

It was probably good writing on purpose, the guy fell for it hook line and sinker. He was so confident when he answered Black Gold.

Ditto. Though even after NIN/JA I’ll see an OG lineup show if they do one in Portland or even Seattle.

Was the last tour in 'standard'? He can't have played with them since they were tuning down so they may just be old tour stickers.

Last tour seems to have been in standard. I think NIN/JA was a whole step down for a lot of the shows, if not most. Half step is fine if it has to be that way, but it definitely hits different, even if Perry manages to grab the notes.

All JA tours have been 1/2 step down since NINJA. Last time they were in standard was relapse (save for one random short set in 2014). I’m hopeful that since Perry just got through an entire Porno tour in standard that he feels up to it for Jane’s. That would really be cool to hear. Moreso than any other band I can think of, their tuning really has an effect on the feel of the songs.
As for the sticker on Dave’s guitar, I think it’s just something that’s been on the headstock for awhile and they’ve never bothered to take it off. I don’t think it indicates that he’s recording 1/2 step down.
A few years ago someone took a NINJA era show and pitched it up to standard. It sounded pretty cool. I think it’s somewhere in the trading section.

You’re sure about that? I didn’t actually check the YouTube videos with Troy or Josh. I’ve got decent pitch but I guess still didn’t catch the half step down.
I should look for that pitched up NIN/JA set.

NINJA was a whole step down and every tour since has been half step.
Obviously prefer standard but I liked a whole step down- sounded darker
