It was fucking great- Perry sounded awesome and it was surreal to hear songs live (dogs, orgasm, Bali) I thought would never be played again. It really had a vibe, and Etty and the other dancer makes sense in this context as does the keyboard player. It reminded me of the excitement of NINJA.
Pete fell off the stage during cursed female but carried on like nothing happened. Perry made some funny comments about it after. Martyn and Stephen were having a blast and singing every word to every song. We thought they were going to do the first album in full because they played the first five songs in order, but I was glad to get GGU songs.
We also quickly said hi to Martyn, who was super nice, while in line for the show. We also waved to Stephen who got out of there in a van pretty much right away. I think Pete and Martyn stuck around after but at that point we were tired and there were weirdos lurking so we left.

I’ve been as critical as anyone over the years, but Perry was fucking great and cool as fuck the whole night. He had THAT vibe.
It was like the band never went away. There is no qualifier here. It was just awesome on every level.

they sound pretty good but it's kind of wasted on this festival. they really aren't a festival band and this festival is probably the worst. they crowd doesn't seem to give a shit. i wish they would of shown the metro show instead.
perry still does the cringy song intros though.

Perry did NOT ham it up like this last night. He treated the Metro show a lot differently. This is interesting to watch and compare.

TV stream doesn’t do this any favors nor does the big festival crowd but playing it loud on my old school stereo this sounds fucking great. Proving again what mtv unraveled starting in the 80s. Music is for the ears.
I hope this tours. It’ll be clubs or small theaters and it’ll be a party.
28 years ago I was in the mud at Woodstock 94 going apeshit for their amazing circus train wreck of a set. They’re obviously sporting a sobriety that was a far cry from where they were at that day.
Eyes closed the bad shit I just listened to was just as good as then.
Bottom line for me - this is really good and way better than JA could possibly have been.

i'm surprised they showed the whole show.
good for them not playing any jane's songs just because it was a festival.

They all seemed to have a great time and add me to the chorus of people hoping Porno takes the Pumpkins tour slot.
Also was Porno supposed to play this or is this another Dave is too sick to play situation…

I used audacity to capture the audio and cdwav to split the tracks. So there. A new sbd for the collection. I've known some of you online for quite a few decades now. Some of you (well at least sonny and feek probably) may recall that I had a pal at MTV and was able to get the DAT from the Hammerstein so that was the last time I contributed a sbd recording to our little pack of favorite band haters. Mine didn't have the IWFY encore and later someone else snagged the same recording but with the encore. I recall giving the recording to those above named guys because I knew they'd get it out there. Still a favorite. It didn't hurt that I was in the opera box on the floor throwing candy to the crowd for halloween. Fun night. the Fuck MTV cheer lives on forever.
Anyway, all these years later, here's the show p4p just played. I don't have a mega account so the mp3s and wavs are all in the above dropbox. It may be easier on mega or some other more popular app so if anyone wants to, feel free to grab the files from this dropbox and upload them there. or get them here. Enjoy.

The background singers missed their cue in Dogs.

They are not necessary. Perry sounds fucking great though!

Loving listening to this again. P4P plays so much looser and jams way more than Janes. It is Jazzier as Perry says. More more free form. Dave tries to play note for note from the album.

That exactly it.
This is the band Perry should be fronting at this point.
The extended solos and jams and more carefree nature really suits him now.
I suspect Jane’s my feel like an obligation — where as Porno is like a fun band?

It's much, much better than modern Jane's. But go back and watch live video from the 90s. This is still a shell of a former powerhouse.
My 14 year old watched some of the Lollapalooza set. I had to show him the Private Parts video to see what (a version) of Porno used to be capable of.

Was that Martyn’s last show?
