The future of Porno (and Jane’s)

#1 Post by Tyler Durden » Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:32 pm

A new studio album by either could spell mediocrity or disaster. So why not record an Unplugged album of Porno tracks (throw in some unreleased songs and maybe a Jane’s track or two)? Wasn’t Jane’s slated for do MTV Unplugged around 90/91 and didn’t follow through?

To me, this is low risk for the band by resting on their laurels (as they’re used to doing), while being different enough to satiate most of us. And it wouldn’t take much time/money to put together. It’s better than nothing…and likely better than a new album that continues to ruin the respective legacies of these two bands.

I actually think Perry is in a much better headspace to do new music with either band than he was in ‘08/‘09.

Ehhhhh. GGU always felt like their acoustic album (with obvious exceptions). I'd like to see a P4P album with anything left from the old days and that's it.

That’s strongly assuming a new studio album doesn’t have Perry making sure it’s way over-produced, with some cheesy ass lyrics about Etty, and some techno vibes thrown in.

I’d rather hear some of GGU songs re-performed in an “unplugged” setting; even if that is rather pedestrian in nature. It’s the lesser evil, in my opinion.

Jane’s, Porno and Kind Heaven are all recording in August apparently… unclear on who will be involved. Let’s see if this all comes to fruition

The acoustic stuff on G.g.u. is ok but i don't listen to it unless i want to go to sleep. Not there best. When I want to hear Porno for Pyros at the best I put on Packin 25 - for the drums, Cursed Male - for the slapped bass, and Hard Charger - for the vocals and guitars.
