Re: RHCP
I was worried because I didn't really dig the first couple singles, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the album overall so far (perhaps due to lowered expectations). Probably wouldn't make the cut in a list of my Top 10 RHCP albums, but I'll give it a few more listens and see how it shakes out. (Though this is coming from someone who fucking loves By The Way, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. )
Re: RHCP
Got through the 1st listen. It was nice to hear Froosh back in the fold. I read a review where the writer mentioned he thought JF looks at the band like a logic problem. Interesting remark, but with a few exceptions he doesn't seem to integrate his complex musical ideas much here. But...Aquatic Mouth Dance, The Grape Apes, She's a Lover, One Way Traffic, and Bastards of Light all made me smile wide though. There are touches of Shadows Collide With People in the mix that I liked too

Re: RHCP
This is terrible. I'm a fan of 'old man' RCHP - I've liked most of their last couple of albums.
Bring back Josh. That had some spark. John F. hits this band like Ambien.

Re: RHCP
I had a chat on this with my kiddo over the holiday. He's a musician, at least he reads, plays (in 2 bands), and studies theory. He thinks it's better than Californication and SA. He started in on some minutia that was "really interesting" and thinks their choices were kind of a fu to the pop listener. I am really disappointed with a few exceptions, but I said I'd keep it on play periodically.

Re: RHCP
So, I went to the show last night. A friend couldn’t come so I ended up taking my 6 year old boy as well as my 10 year old.
It was really fun, a bit strange and emotional doing it as a single dad but actually I’ve always been a crybaby at gigs
We were so far from the stage I couldn’t really see the performers but the big screens were fun.
The boys loved it and that was the biggest thrill, although the little one crashed and burned, sleeping through the last four or five songs! He’s been so desperate to hear black summer but he slept through it!
Thunder at and Anderson pak both killed it stone dead and to be fair to the crowd, they were great for the support acts. I was expecting much worse!
