What's annoying you today?
Re: What's annoying you today?
Working from home has its perks but sometimes I find it overwhelming. Not the work but trying to keep up on all the group chats and sidechats and webex meetings - I'm sick of it! I want to permanently mute my mic !
Another thing that bugs me is nobody wants to talk on the phone. The only ones who immediately agree to actually speak on the telephone is in my age range.

Re: What's annoying you today?
That's been bugging me for years, but I had to give up.

Re: What's annoying you today?
What's a 'phone' ? Is that the thing you access your socials on and msg your friends with? Didn't they used to have them on walls? That makes no sense, how would you put it in your handbag or pocket?
Stoopie old timey folk, we wouldn't do that. Now, can I have my smashed avo on toast for the low price of $23.50?
Re: What's annoying you today?
I will only do Zoom or Cisco I fucking loathe talking on the phone. I will not talk on the phone to anyone, no matter even if its for business. If its important it can be done face to face or remotely via VCs. Nothing worse to me than having to hold something next to my head and listen to people drone on and on.
That said my friend died of colon cancer on Tuesday he was only 37, fought it for a year but it was too far gone by the time it was found. I've ran about 25 miles since I heard the news, figured it was healthier than going on a depressed bender.

Re: What's annoying you today?
You have a lot of youngish friends who die.....
Sorry to hear. If you don't mind me asking how did your friend find out he had cancer? Just listliss and sick with bowel problems or did he just find it on routine check up?

Re: What's annoying you today?
Last November he was listless and sick, he was in fairly good shape he worked in the oil fields for Haliburton. He started to feel pain and it was already stage 2-3 last Nov. And yeah cancer knows no age, Bobby who died a couple months ago was older, he was in his 60s, Barry who passed in May was in his 60s but was a heavy heavy drinker.
Re: What's annoying you today?
Also I talked to him a lot on the phone even though I hated it namely because I didn't go thru the same cancer but I was dealing with it from 2010-mid 2011. I'm chalking it all up to 2020.
Re: What's annoying you today?
This year is so brutal......
I am really lucky that actually I have had a sequence of events the last year that have been crazy lucky/beneficial. But there has been so much pain for most everyone...

Re: What's annoying you today?
Outside of the deaths and losing my Pug it hasn't been that bad I haven't done shit since 10/23/19 except travel and with the bars essentially breaking even, not being able to promote shows etc on a personal level it's not been so bad. Just the shit happening around me and to friends, hell I even signed a couple of footballers to my marketing company. That said death does stain things, with two mentors and friends going down for the count.
Re: What's annoying you today?
I think I sprained my thumb today. I can move it around but it is painful to bend at the knuckle.
Was shovelling snow at my mom's, then I tried to open a bag of salt without scissors by pushing my thumb through the thick plastic. I couldn't poke a hole through it and hurt my thumb instead.

Re: What's annoying you today?
I’ve spent like 3 weeks feeling really really annoyed, but I’m not sure at what.
Re: What's annoying you today?
Could be a sign of depression. Consider what we've been through and are still going through with COVID- lock downs, isolation, curfews, etc.
I have highs and lows myself. Some days I am so pissed off for no reason too. Then I remind myself that I'm living and working in my apartment. I use public transit to go shopping and also look after my mother on my off days. Staying constantly vigilant about mask wearing wearing and hand washing, avoiding others where possible; there's no relaxing or letting one's guard down. I worry about the economy and jobs and money and wonder how long we will have to live like this. I see so many more homeless people now and drug addicts closer to my home, more than I used to. I won't go on, but this year has been pretty fucking depressing. To balance myself, i remind myself of the good things that have happened this year too.
Re: What's annoying you today?
Yeah I start to panic when I see more and more stores and restaurants going out of business because of lockdowns

Re: What's annoying you today?
Yeah, I’ve asked myself if I feel depressed, which is a fair possibility. However, I think this is different (I spent many years depressed, so I imagine I’d be able to recognise the difference inside myself) and I wonder if it’s just burnout.Artemis wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 2:00 pmCould be a sign of depression. As you said, this year brought about all those new challenges... I worry about my health, my partner’s health, my income (I’m changing jobs and my new one doesn’t pay well yet... and I changed jobs partly because the industry of human translation is dying), the near future (we bought a flat), I still have one year left of studies in my university, and in general I feel like I haven’t had a break since March.
I tell myself I need a week off from everything, when I can just read and smoke weed and sleep without having to deal with anything else.

I'm doing well, just sometimes when I get down I think about all the things that are wrong or could go wrong, basically I make myself more anxious. On top of that, I'm aware that my thinking is making me feel bad which makes me feel even worse.
I think what Larry said about burnout is probably right. I too need a little break to kick back and not worry about anything for a little while.

Maybe if you can give yourself a little reward now and again, in whatever form that may take.
