Its one of the better shows since NINJA, but my God those fucking "all of my love" synths on three days.

Dave is very annoyed when Perry does the "1,2,3,4" too early in Jane Says
To Perry's credit, he recovers nicely.

His old knees and hips can't take the punishment of leaping off of a 2 foot drum riser these days.clickie wrote: Perry takes a tumble at the very last seconds of no ones leaving
And speaking of No One's Leaving, Perk doesn't even play the ending drum parts to that song the correct way these days.
Those added Star Wars sound effects sound terrible. The band, especially Perry, to me sound awful. To read that people are saying that this is one of their better played shows has me shaking my head wondering what they sound like during a show that people consider one of their bad ones

My opinion:
Perkins, Navarro and Chaney are top notch as always. Chris is even adding some cool fills on songs like "Then she did".
The keyboards are ok with me, as long as they don't interrumpt the Navarro epic solo on "Three days".
I think kinda Perry saves his voice/his air for the most "well known" songs. He sounds a little bit down on "Then she did", but "Just because", "Mountain song" and "Jane says" are pretty cool. And on the strongs parts of "Ted, just admit it" he did an amazing work.
Don't forget that he is 57 years old, and he has one of the most high-pitched voices in rock music.
Most singers of his age or even less (like Dave Mustaine, or Axl Rose) sound really crappy live. The only one that still sounds "the same as the old days" is Bruce Dickinson. The point with Megadeth is that they release a new album every two years, so they can play those songs and sound like Mustaine is singing right now.
Jane's is playing songs that are 25 years old, or even more. So I'm really thankful that we can still see them live and with Perry, and delivering a nice show. Obviously, I would prefer Jane's Addiction releasing albums every 3 or 4 years too and playing those tracks according to Perry's current voice, but we know that's rarely going to happen.

"Better" is a relative term here. There have most certainly been more offensive shows than this.crater wrote:To read that people are saying that this is one of their better played shows has me shaking my head wondering what they sound like during a show that people consider one of their bad ones

Why doesn't Perry use more echo? His voice would carry so much more, which he needs more and more as he gets older.
Cool to hear No One's Leaving getting played but it sounds so pedestrian in comparison to 1991/91 renditions. Needs to be sped up.
Oh, and Perry's definitely had work on his face. Is that even still debated?

Perry was probably up for 3 days prior to that performance. He sang a lot in the last few weeks. I actually didn't really like this performance. Though it's very difficult to get a sense by watching it on a computer. I thought the Coney Island show as a lot cooler.

I meant 1990/91....

Perry dancing in slo-mo at the 3:33 to 3:40 mark is truly odd.. and the shot of the dancers up high following that... what....
Re: Chicago
My brother and I were surrounded by 20 year old kids who had never heard of Jane's Addiction and had no idea the festival even existed because of them. They also had no idea who Perry Farrell is.bman wrote:We all know how 6767 feels. But how was the crowd around you? Was it a Janes crowd at all or just a bunch of festival going kids?
We were kind of shocked.
They said they were just jockeying for good position for the Chili Peppers, who headlined the same stage 90 minutes later.

Yeah, I imagine the three dudes who spend time rehearsing probably can't stand that their singer doesn't know when to sing.Noonesshocking wrote:Dave is very annoyed when Perry does the "1,2,3,4" too early in Jane Says

Re: Chicago
Not shocked. We were never fans of a bro band.
I liked this performance of "Stop." Perry is putting some effort in.

Yeah well, only listened to Stop so far. Don't think I'm gonna listen to the rest.
It wasn't half that bad.
But still bad.
The Keyboard caught me off guard though now I understand all the phew phew phewing in the other threads/comments

That lady with the pink hair at 32:22 is fantastic
Perry looks very plastic though. It almost seems like he cannot move properly because his skin is too tight.

Anyone know which thread it was that someone posted an example of perry mumbling thru the lyrics of three days and the space sounds? It was hilarious and I can't find itMescal wrote:now I understand all the phew phew phewing in the other threads/comments

Actually it was Perkins the one that had the mistake. He didn't start playing the steel drums at the right time.Six7Six7 wrote:Yeah, I imagine the three dudes who spend time rehearsing probably can't stand that their singer doesn't know when to sing.Noonesshocking wrote:Dave is very annoyed when Perry does the "1,2,3,4" too early in Jane Says

Nope. Perry didn't keep up with where the drum loop was at, there was still one more loop to go.parklife03 wrote:Actually it was Perkins the one that had the mistake. Yeah I've seen Perry fuck up the intro to Jane Says a couple of times. No big deal. I actually wish they'd drop the song from the set (never Happen) and just bring it out occasionally. Close with Ocean, Ted or Chip Away. Jane Says has lost ALL of it's juice. Dave should play it electric just to give it a new vibe. Like this one (Minus Etty holding the mic!)

Did you see No One's Leaving, right after Stop? I only caught 10 seconds of it... it was like someone grabbed that song, stuck a machete up its ass, cut its skin with a razor blade and then spat on its eyes. And then played it at half the speed and half-step down.Mescal wrote:Yeah well, only listened to Stop so far. Don't think I'm gonna listen to the rest.
Re: Jane's Addiction @ Lollapalooza Ch 2016 - Full show pro
wtf is that synth doing in the beginning of the breakdown in Stop! candidate for most out of place synth in a song of all time....who's the moron playing that? Etty, right?
