I woulda gone with 26.05.2016 Mountain View - Shoreline Amphitheatre (USA/CA), but then looking at all the others they're all great for different song choices..

There are some good boots coming out too.. shame that some people are holding onto their recordings to do RARSWOPONLY trades but such is life.

Set times were announced for my festival on the 12th. It's going to be weird to see The Cure come on in the daylight.
Sunday is going to be a LONG day for me; I want to see every act on the main stage except Blajk.

Apparently they used to go off stage before the encores and argue about what songs to play, but now the sets are pre-determined and on printed setlist sheets so it's all for theatre, adulation or to build "will they or won't they?"..

Either way 30+ songs fucking rules. Unless creep is there, then it's "too long" :lolol:

i'm in the 30 is too long ie "ya i'm old" crowd as well...they don't have many short songs so that's a long ass set...not like a punk show where 30 songs might be 35 minutes :lolol:

but hey i respect the hell out of it...

It really depends on the band and how deep their catalog is for me. Also, if they and the audience pouring a ton of energy nonstop from start to finish into the performance, crossing the 2 hour mark becomes less fun and more of an endurance test.

Two extreme cases in point have been the Springsteen and Savages shows I saw a few months ago. The Springsteen show was almost 3:45 with only one very short encore break at about the 2 1/2 hour mark and I was doing standing GA. By the last few songs, my legs were killing me (and I had been standing in the pit line for a previous 2 hours before even getting in the Sports Arena - and I didn't get in the fuckin' pit, lol!) and that walk back to my car was rough going. That said, I was never bored and thought the show was among the top 3 or 4 Springsteen shows I've seen going back to '81 but that last stretch became a "I'm not walking away if these guys who are 10+ years older than me are still onstage." On the other hand, the Savages show was perfect at about 90 minutes, they played just about every song I wanted to hear. Of course, they only have two albums to draw from.

I have seen relatively short shows from bands I expected a lot more from. I keep passing on the Black Sabbath/Ozzy reunion shows in large part because they play maybe about 14-15 songs (at least half the same old burnouts) barely breaking the 70-80 minute mark.

The sound quality on that Periscope from the Fiddler's Green show is excellent! Big thanks to MIsty for capturing the entire show. Robert Smith and the rest of the band sounded really good last night. Must have been the high altitude..lol.

This isn't a youtube but it's a facebook vid from a guy who was at the show. In case anybody is interested, the facebook group is called 'Fans of The Cure.

Here's the song ''Cold'.

Love this tune..

3 more sleeps until my show- can't wait!

If the average show has been 30-35 songs in 3 hours, I'm thinking we'll get 24-27 songs in 2,5 hours.

The show at Bestival last night was cut 20 minutes short.
There was a problem with the sound a few times, mics, guitar string breakage and a pulsing techno beat from the too close second stage.
I still enjoyed the show but Robert Smith and band were annoyed. He made more than a few comments about the second stage being so close. Nol doubt the thumping bass was distracting. Oh, and it was very windy too. I think that may have also contributed to the sound problem.
Even with a short show by Cure standards, we got 25 songs.
The crowd was kind of sparse which really surprised me. The previous night the park was full for the Tame Impala show. The crowd was definitely younger, I would say average ages 18-28ish. The second stage had some big techno act and was packed to the rafters! :noclue:
Robert Smith said that Toronto will be the first stop on the next tour with a very special surprise.

Here's a few pics I took:

Perry wasn't wrong about electronica being the future, when he started saying that around 20 years ago. He was just wrong to think he could in any way be one of the people doing it respectably.
