Yeah, I remember. But to be honest, even with Eric I don't think they could come up with anything good. I was excited back in 2008. Nowadays, not so much. But I agree with bandit. It was a good article.blackula wrote:If I remember correctly this was in Whores. Rick Ruben hated Perry and wanted Jane's without him. Re: Ritual Performance
Rick Rubin was grooming Samhain (Glenn Danzig's band after the Misfits...which then changed its name to Danzig) in order to take them from clubs to arenas...so the intent was to put together a supergroup of sorts. He had Dave in mind as their guitarist.blackula wrote:If I remember correctly this was in Whores. Rick Ruben hated Perry and wanted Jane's without him. I totally agree, creep. People can talk shit about Perry all they want (I do my fair share here)...but the truth is, Perry's voice and control over the band was a huge influence on their sound and success back in the day, respectively. Unfortunately, the band imploded and Perry would grow to be a douche by the early 2000s.creep wrote:he was the best there was back then. annoying or not jane's would be nothing without him.perkana wrote:I don't want to say I was surprised by this. Re: Ritual Performance
I would've thought it would've been obvious to anyone who knew anything about the band and its sound to think that removing Perry would cause the band to cease to be.. WTF sort of retard thinks it would've been the same or better band, with a different singer? Fucking ludicrous. Regardless of what Perry and the band has become now or post 1.0 that's just a moronic statement/idea...Tyler Durden wrote:I totally agree, creep. I never knew that ... Interesting ... I guess john Christ does have that studio metal head session guy feel that dave ended up being .. Dave in danzig would have been awful tho ... Dave would have been laughed out of the room compared to the other monsters on stage... Deconstruction was on rubins label tho so i guess rubin got his wish .. Decent sounds but eric singing was wretched .. Thanks for that rickTyler Durden wrote:Rick Rubin was grooming Samhain (Glenn Danzig's band after the Misfits...which then changed its name to Danzig) in order to take them from clubs to arenas...so the intent was to put together a supergroup of sorts. Dave would not have survived in Danzig. He was/is too sensitive...whereas the guys in Danzig had strong personalities and were major ball busters.trevor ayer wrote:I never knew that ... Re: Ritual Performance
Rick Rubin's boner for Dave was as big as Axl's.

What makes Dave so special? I'm sure there were other guitarists around back then?blackula wrote:Rick Rubin's boner for Dave was as big as Axl's.
He's an ok guitarist, but he's been boring since 20 years or so
Re: Ritual Performance
I listened to RDLH on Spotify today. It's fucking great. It wouldn't be that album if any of the musicians were different. They all need to be on that album. There may have been better vocalists then, but not for that album. There may have been better guitarists then, but not for that album. And the bass and drum tracks are untouchable by anyone.
Re: Ritual Performance
I hope no one is really arguing that Janes could have existed without Perry. Come on.
And as much as I love Nothings Shocking (Ocean, Summertime, Pigs, Ted, all classics, plus the monster that is Jane Says..), it was Ritual that solidified Janes as a cult classic band. I find myself having so very little time to sit back and relax and listen to music anymore. But when I do I am still amazed how Three Days and Then She Did are absolute timeless beauties.

Though they were never as great as Jane's. That time was magical. Nowadays the only time I can see Perry performing well is when he's going down on Etty.

Got it. Everyone remember to never ever say anything that KV doesn't agree with.
KV, please provide us a list of your positions so that we can reference what we can talk about.
