Went and watched Washington play the Kings tonight...God damn Ovechkin and company can skate... their cycle was sick...we were up 3 zip but they stormed back and took us to overtime where we buried it...back to first in the Pacific with the W vs the best team in hockey

Damn fun time...was trying to decide if I wanted to see Ovechkin or get laker tix to applaud Kobe one last time...turns out Kobe was sitting rink side to see Ovechkin as well...great knows great....so when they threw Kobe up on the jumbotron I got a two for one and got to cheer him in staples center one final time

Gotta say it was a good day

Ironically I went to the Kings game tonight where they shut out Canada...er I mean Calgary

I can't speak for all of the Canadian teams but a few are really young and primed for the future.

Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau are damn good on the Flames for instance and are just 21 & 22.

Kings are looking pretty rough right now. Should've never traded Jones to the Sharks, he's got the Kings number.

Jones is not our problem...but that's some selective memory you have going on there...since we traded him out of conference to the Bruins for Lucic...then the Bruins traded him to the Sharks

we can't stay out of the box to save our lives...stupid fucking penalties and bad kills...we had great kills on Tuesday and lookie we fucking won!
game 1 & 2 we lost by 1 goal...we gave up power play goals in both games plus the first 3 games the Sharks scored on their first shot...why we start and end periods so shitty has bugged me for months...i hate the first and last minute so much :jasper:
add in our shots on goal are way down (we have been shooting over and to the side of the net like fucking crazy) we haven't had 30 a game yet...something we did almost all season long

anyway, every game has been a one goal game...I am much happier with the play the last two games...but they are out playing us

one game at a time...we just have to win on friday

Finally won a playoff series, first time in 23 years! Last 2 games double OT, I've never been so stressed watching the Islanders.

Bittersweet win for Bolts with Bishop injury. Speculation knee injury, but no reporting yet to confirm?

hockey doesn't really report injuries...they just go with upper body/lower body because whenever the injured player makes their return they don't want the other team knowing where they are hurt to abuse with say a simple swing of the stick

NY Islanders in talks to build an arena in Queens next to Citi Feild (NY Mets) is the best thing I've heard in a while. I went to the first game at Barclay's, hated it and swore I'd never go back. They made the playoffs and I went back and had the same problems.

You can't build an arena for basketball and shoehorn a hockey team in. The dynamics are way off and everything is way more expensive. Hope this happens

New hockey season starts tonight! :aoa:

This year the Leafs will be marking 100 years!
Will this season be our time to reclaim the cup? Nah, probably not.. The last time the Leafs won the Stanley Cup was the year of my birth- 1967.

I want to bring my 5 year old to his first game. I go to a few Islanders games every year. I really hate them in Brooklyn for many reasons and hope they'll be back in 2 years when their contract has an opt out clause. Point being, I'm not sure if I'm just a bitter Isles fan but weren't there more day games? One afternoon home game in March? Probably bringing him to a 6pm Sunday game in December on a school night which means home around 10 if no overtime.

No not many day games anymore...plus they share with the nets so most day weekend games will be nets games

Yep, afternoon games are definitely rare. It's too bad because I'm sure many families, like Blackula's would like to take their children to games.

I'd love to get tickets for the NHL Centennial Classic outdoor game on January 1st between the Leafs and Red Wings in Toronto. I'm sure the tickets will be outrageous and way more than I'd be willing to spend.

This will not happen, there's not enough parking or funding. Belemont racetrack is our only hope or it'll be Seattle or Quebec. If only the Islanders could return to the brand new Coliseum they used to play in that opens in 2017, but that just too much of an obvious solution.

Is there anymore news on Quick? I'm not worried about the slow start since we've started slow the last couple years but no Quick I'm worried especially since we can't really trade for anyone given our cap situation without fucking up the depth.
