And I agree, great story. It really makes me proud of being part of this community.

I have a question for you Perk, was your enire family Distrito Federal residents from way back, or is there more recent foreign or country lineage in there? You don't have to answer, just you seem pretty open about that stuff.

btw - I love Mexico City. I would go again in a heartbeat. It's got a lot going on, and the people were great.

nice hair!

Actually, my parents come from another state (San Luis Potosí). My sister and I were born here. Well, I guess there's a lot of blood mix in my family. Guess it's due to being colonized and stuff. Some of my family members have light color eyes (blue or green), but most of us have brown/dark brown eyes. I'm quite of the few who fortunately got freckles (got them from my greatgrandmother). You're not the first one who's pointed out that I look like I come from somewhere other than Mexico. I've been mistaken for a Turk, Cuban, Spanish and other nationalities.
And thanks!
You should definitely come back!

No, I had no doubt your entire family could be from Mexico, I am aware of the strong lineages of Spanish from way way back around D.F., just didn't know if that applied to you.

Thanks for your candor, I love learning about people and where they come from, just sometimes it can understandably be a touchy subject.

I will let you know if I ever make it back there!

It's not touchy for me at all, I'm very proud of where I come from. Though, if you ask me, there are a lot of people in Mexico who are obsessed with having Spanish relatives or becoming Spanish.
At least for me and my family that is not important.

Now that is fascinating to me. That's the kind of thing that you only guess as, living in another country.

I mean it makes sense, due to our dumb-ass Western-centric world, and of course the US (or America :hehe:  ) has it's share of racial problems and strife.

That phenomenon you are talking about, I am coming to find, is so, so prevalent around the world. I mean of course one could infer, but to see and hear stories like that is something all together different.

Dang, I hate to be that guy who goes overboard when a girl posts a pic, but Perkana, you look really beautiful there!

Of course, you've posted plenty of pics in the past establishing that you are attractive, but something about that one is next level for me.

Okay, sorry to go on for a moment and hopefully didn't make anything weird... :scared:

Crater- that Kælan Mikla is absolutely FANTASTIC! Reminds me a bit of an all-female Jane's Addiction; a lot of comments on their videos about it being simplistic musically, but I love it. Thanks for the share.

Going to lurk on it, only...
I have no problem with beards too, i dig them :thumb:

And perkana is really pretty, the red hair is very cool and fitting.

Oh and what made my day is being pretty fucking exhausted after hard work at the gym...its a really good feeling. :thumb:

Thank you guys! I've always liked red hair but I never had the guts to go for it. It feels great
And definitely beards are great. I think the Oscars show made it more bearable for me because of all the cool beards

Wow, you should be very proud of where you come from. What an amazing place San Luis Potosí is, I never knew. I am especially fascinated by the Otomi peoples, and I would love to visit the Sierra Madre Oriental and then over to Veracruz someday.
Veracruz probably mostly because of warren though. Soooooooooo beautiful. :nyrexall:

Do people travel without fear in San Luis Potosi?

Oh, and +10..... you look perfect.

It's pretty safe going to San Luis. I go there whenever I'm on holidays.

I've been to la Huasteca only once. And it was freezing, so I have to go back.

The only town I've visited in Veracruz has been Jalapa. I still have to see more.

La Huasteca looks fantastic! I especially love the color of the water and the caves. And it looks like they have great culture there as well. :thumb:

That has definitely made my day.

Do they have cenotes there like in the Yucatán?
I remember that being one of the most surreal places I've been swimming, and loved exploring around Calakmul and Xpuhil, felt like we uncovered them ourselves because it was so out there.

No cenotes but this underground cave (I'm not into free falling, but it does look amazing)

And my favorite part was Xilitla, a very surreal place in the jungle.

Perkana, that is one of the best pictures of you. You look bad-ass. Yes, western "looks" seem to influence a lot all over the world. In fact, it turns me off. Because, there is beauty in all people, and cultures I married a girl not from American and not from my culture, because I loved her, and because I hated how everyone in my college was striving to be the same if they were from my country. Race didn't matter, out-looks and culture made a bigger difference. People are ugly and beautiful everywhere. I swear love could solve the worlds problems. There are gorgeous people in this world, looking for love all over. We all, deep down want the same happiness. I'm glad I found some thousands of miles away.

My geotech, along with a principal geologist, did another walkthrough of the site I recently acquired, doing some additional hand-auger test pits and came back with much more encouraging news.

The long of the short is that (1) there is no landslide risk (only risk of boulders prying loose and careening into the house  ), but that doesn't require an independent diversion retaining wall ($$$$$$), just some wire mesh retainage ($$) and (2) there are no lateral pressures in the soil that would require very expensive tie-backs for the foundation. Still haven't found bedrock after drilling 18', but that was expected.

Whoooo-hoooooooo!

Boston finally broke its record for snowiest winter. There will probably be a bit more, but this is how it stands:

1. 2014-2015: 108.6 inches
2. 1995-1996: 107.6 inches
3. 1993-1994: 96.3 inches
4. 1947-1948: 89.2 inches
5. 2004-2005: 86.6 inches
6. 1977-1978: 85.1 inches
7. 1992-1993: 83.9 inches
8. 2010-2011: 81.0 inches
9. 1915-1916: 79.2 inches
10. 1919-1920: 73.4 inches

Several additional records were broken:
For perspective, the average seasonal snowfall at Logan Airport is 43.5 inches.

February has obliterated the previous snowiest month on record in Boston.

1. February 2015: 64.8 inches
2. January 2005: 43.3 inches
3. January 1945: 42.3 inches
4. February 2003: 41.6 inches
5. February 1969: 41.3 inches

Winter Storms Juno and Marcus each made the top 10 heaviest Boston snowstorms, all-time.

1. Feb. 17-18, 2003: 27.6 inches
2. Feb. 6-7, 1978: 27.1 inches
3. Feb. 24-26, 1969: 25.8 inches
4. Mar. 31 - Apr. 1, 1997: 25.4 inches
5. Feb. 8-9, 2013 (Nemo): 24.9 inches
6. Jan. 26-28, 2015 (Juno): 24.6 inches
7. Feb. 7-10, 2015 (Marcus): 23.8 inches

8. Jan. 22-23, 2005: 22.5 inches
9. Jan. 20-21, 1978: 21.4 inches
10. Mar. 3-5, 1960: 19.8 inches

In just over two years, we've had three of the top seven heaviest snowstorms in Boston.

Other records Boston has set during this stretch include:

- Record 30-day snowfall: 94.4 inches from Jan. 24- Feb. 22, 2015, inclusive (previous record: 58.8 inches from Jan. 9 - Feb. 7, 1978). Incredibly, this 30-day total would be the third snowiest season!

- Record snowfall for meteorological winter (December, January and February): 99.4 inches (previous record: 81.5 inches in 1993-94; of the 107.6 inches in 1995-96, only 79.4 inches came in December, January and February)

- Record snow depth*: 37 inches on Feb. 9 (previous record: 31 inches on Jan. 11, 1996; * gaps in this dataset exist)

- Fastest six-foot snowfall: 72.5 inches in 18 days from Jan. 24 - Feb. 10, 2015 (previous record: 73 inches in 45 days from Dec. 29, 1993 to Feb. 11, 1994)

- Fastest 90-inch snowfall: 23 days from Jan. 24 - Feb. 15, 2015 (previous record: 78 days from Dec. 30, 1993 to Mar. 17, 1994)

- Four calendar days with at least 12 inches of snow, a first for any snow season (previously, only two seasons had as many as two such days, in 1977-1978 and 1960-1961 seasons)

- At least 0.5 inch of snow had fallen 6 straight days through Feb. 12, topping the previous such record stretch of 5 days in 1943. The record stretch of measurable snow (at least 0.1 inch) was 9 straight days ending on Mar. 10, 1916.

- Most days with measurable snow in a month: 16 in February, topping the record of 14 days in March 1916, January 1923 and January 1994. It also breaks the record for the month of February, which was previously 13 days set in 1907 and 1967.

- Finally, the Blue Hill Observatory in Milton, Massachusetts set an all-time snow depth record on the morning of February 15.

- While not a snow record per se, part of the difficulty Boston has faced in dealing with the snow is the persistent cold weather, which has prevented any meaningful snowmelt. The city recorded 28 consecutive days with lows 20 degrees or colder from Jan. 25 through Feb. 21 (inclusive), breaking the all-time record of 27 consecutive days set Jan. 12 through Feb. 7, 1881.

- Boston also failed to reach 40 degrees from January 20 through March 3, a record streak of 43 consecutive days. The previous such record streak of 42 straight days was set in the winter of 1968-1969.

Hot water pipe replaced today. No more dripping hot water!
Next job is to fix the hole in my closet and the water damage. Right now I have a humidifier and a couple of big fans going to dry things out. I'm happy the floor in the closet isn;t as badly damaged as I thought.

Image

Something else that made my day was looking inside a stranger's apartment. I helped the superintendent of my building to check an apartment on the floor below mine for leaks and/or water damage. The person is away and a neighbour complained about a really strong musty smell. The super thought the water may have spread to this unit as well and asked if I could accompany her as a witness. When we went in it was super hot like the Amazon jungle, all steamy and clammy, and VERY musty smelling. The person had their rads cranked up high, windows closed, and the hot water tap in the bathroom was slowly running, which created condensation. Fortunately, this was not related to the problem I had. Anyway, the place was like a religious store. I spotted three different Last Supper paintings, several crucifixes of various sizes, and various other religious figurines all over the place. There were many photos of a woman and a girl at different ages. From baby to marriage, no man in any of the photos. There were also a lot of suitcases and carry on bags. I wonder if the person is a drug mule or something like that. The super says the woman is often away. Lots of cheap looking plastic flowers everywhere too. None of the dishes were put away either. They were washed but sitting in the drainer; I hate that!
I don't think I should have enjoyed being in a stranger's apartment, but I did. I think there's an interesting story there.
