Re: New Eric Interview
Sounds kind of interesting. Would sound better with Perry's voice on it! Perry and Eric should work on a project without Guitar or Drums.
Re: New Eric Interview
right, Eric's a cooler songwriter these days than Dave

Or 1988 Perry's voice?

Thank You For Leaving is an excellent song. http://ericaverymusic.bandcamp.com/trac ... or-leaving
Seems to me to be about Perry. A big fuck you to "Price I Pay"?

Absolutely. And that section around 2:15 has quite similar textures to Price I Pay too.Adurentibus Spina wrote:Thank You For Leaving is an excellent song. http://ericaverymusic.bandcamp.com/trac ... or-leaving

you like that song!? I think it's a mess, the lyrics are amusing I suppose
Re: New Eric Interview
i hate when people use effects like that on their vocals.Matz wrote:you like that song!? I think it's a mess, the lyrics are amusing I suppose
Re: New Eric Interview
Well, I think it's an interesting fusion of the old Polar Bear sound with some of the newer stuff the kids are doing now. It sounds like the heavier side of a Nick Cave track.Matz wrote:you like that song!? I think it's a mess, the lyrics are amusing I suppose
I agree that it's got a lot going on and kinda meanders... I'm not a huge fan of that.

Someone should tell Eric that different doesn't always mean better.Adurentibus Spina wrote:Thank You For Leaving is an excellent song. http://ericaverymusic.bandcamp.com/trac ... or-leaving

Polar Bear is light years better than any of his experimental electronic stuff.

Re: New Eric Interview
Just gave those songs a spin. A lot better than I remember them being two years ago when they came out. Some cool bass stuff on these songs too.
I wonder if he kept perk's drum track on beneath the ground, like he said in the xiola interview.

Yeah?
What does this pave the road towards then?
Re: New Eric Interview
A generation of metal lovers who look into the possibility of playing sax, for one thing.

The song is better than I remember it the first time around.

Man that sucks.
I like the lyrics though, pretty witty

Re: New Eric Interview
The song's unlistenable to me. I can't handle the overall nails-on-chalkboard distortion that starts with the (presumably) guitar drone and quickly infuses everything like it's a trashed 5th generation cassette tape.Matz wrote:you like that song!? Re: New Eric Interview
I didn't realise he was writing a piece of classical music dedicated to Los Angeles. He says everything he does sounds too European which makes sense as pretty much all of the early 'greats' were European. I guess it's kind of hard to get your head out of that when you're asked to write something involving a whole load of classical instruments.
Be interesting to see if he pulls it off.....if we ever got to hear it.

Re: New Eric Interview
right, different instrumentation please, we all know you own a Virus C by now...I'd love to hear what he'd do with a orchestral sample library and it sounds as if that could be what he's doing right now...lets hope
Re: New Eric Interview
can't agree with you guys. nothing sounds more boring than classical music by eric avery. maybe he should close the laptop, pick up a bass, call a guitar player and a drummer and make some music?
Re: New Eric Interview
But then he'd have to work with other humans, and that doesn't appear to be his favourite thing to do...

Boy, if that's not a spot on comment I don't know what is.Adurentibus Spina wrote:But then he'd have to work with other humans, and that doesn't appear to be his favourite thing to do...
