14,500 color photographs from 1938 to 1969
Re: 14,500 color photographs from 1938 to 1969
Sweet.
I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but my brain goes into short circuit regarding black and white old photographies. I don't know if it's the clothes people wore back then or what, but it just doesn't seem real. It's like... I don't know, I can't even describe it properly, but I see a photo and I just can't relate to it. I have no idea what colors there were and I can't imagine how people saw those buildings. Say there's a color photo of a guy looking at a coffee shop. Usually, I can see (picture in my head) what that guy is seeing. If the photo is black and white, I can't do it. I have no idea how that shit looks and it drives me a little insane. Am I looking at a b&w coffee shop? What colors are there?! How did that shit smell? Could it possibly be that that smell, from that exact moment, just doesn't exist anymore, anywhere? Where the fuck did that guy bought that suit and WHY? How could his wife agree to fuck him with that stupid mustache?
Seriously, something happens in my brain when I look at a b&w picture. So, many thanks for this.

It definitely looks more real and is more relate-able, even if it has a technicolor look to it.

When I was little I thought the world was really in black and white after seeing lots of old B&W photos and films.
