How many old sounds do you recognize?

In my life, I've only heard 4 out of those 11. I'm not including the cash register and the film projector, because I only heard them on movies, never in real life experiences.

And what the shit is a coffee percolator? It's the first time I've heard about it in my life. I mean, now I know what it is, but is there people who hear that sound and say "aahhhh, ye old percolator..."??

i've heard all of them other than:
-tv station sign off
-broken record
-and i remember seeing really old school gas stations when i was a kid out in the middle of nowhere in arizona that had the pneumatic tube, but i don't ever remember hearing the noise it made inside the station.

but THAT type of coffee maker? I had never seen one like that. this is what I used to think most coffee makers looked like:

and "percolator"? the sound of that word takes me back to the 20s, when I didn't exist and thus the world sucked balls.

I too know all those sounds except the Mintz television warmer thing. I know the sounds of the picture tube and all of that but I don't recall ever having to warm the TV up.

Still use a percolator too, especially for camping. But, yeah. I remember most of these somehow, just not the TV sign off.

I can't believe the people saying they haven't heard a broken record. What the ever-loving fuck are you talking about?! And a station signing off the air? You've gotta be kidding me.

One time I had this drug-dealing motorcycle-riding scumbag piece of shit as a neighbor across the street. He had two big vicious dogs who had an outdoor pen in the back yard, and every day they'd jump up against their chain link fence like they'd rip my fucking throat out and eat my face if they could ever get out of that cage. One night that asshole came home all drunk and coked-up, and he goes up to the 3rd floor and starts blaring some 80s tunes on vinyl. This was in 1993. So he's playing "Don't You Want Me, Baby?" and he passes out or some shit and runs into the record player with his head or something, and it just keeps repeating "Oh, oh-oh-oh, d-, Oh, oh-oh-oh, d-. Oh, oh-oh-oh." This started at about 2:30 am. I had to call the cops a couple of times before they finally came. By that time they told me they'd had dozens of calls. The record had been skipping for at least 45 minutes. My girl had to be at work really early and she was extremely pissed. I can't stress how fucking loud this was. When the cops came it took a good 1/2 hour just to get in there because they had to figure out a way to avoid the dogs. They were grilling me about what kind of dogs they were (Pit Bull and Bull Mastiff) and how they might be able to avoid them (I didn't really know) and all that shit. In the end they found an easy way up to the third floor. I think the dogs were blocked off from that part of the house at the time. They found the guy passed out there by the record player. I don't know if he could even understand that the cops were there or anything. They took care of the record and that was that. Just left the fucker passed out there.

I was surprised, because I kind of expected they'd find some evidence of his shady dealings, but no.

Part of the reason I drink coffee every day, aside from the caffeine and deliciousness, is for the positive health effects.

the review of studies that found a link to unfiltered coffee and increased cholesterol levels found the link in people who drink more than 6 cups per day. I don't even drink six cups per week. I drink filtered coffee at work, so really only use the french press once or twice per week.
i also had my cholesterol checked recently. normal.

That is the coffee my mother makes and drinks. She's got a few sets of those little cups and different size cezves. I have one too but I haven't used it in a while.

Is that Turkish? Turkish is strong as hell, but good. Speaking of health effects, I've been drinking Green Tea or Jasmine Tea everyday of the past year. (The real Japanese stuff, not the sugar water found at Starbucks) It's been shown to lower blood pressure, fat retaining, prevent cancer in many forms, and even possible slow the aging process. All I know is, I get a kick of caffeine and feel pretty good these days.

I would never drink more than one Turkish coffee every week or less... it's a great feeling for a hangover though... very strong.
