That is a huge fire.

Luckily not near here, but just a harbinger that these major fire seasons aren't just couple year anomaly events. It seems to be the new normal. .

I'm planning on getting myself a new bike for Christmas. Maybe not this exact one, but something like it is what I'm looking to get.



I'm also planning on using it for a bike ride down the coast from Oregon to the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm hoping to leave March 1st (depending on the weather) spend a few days and then bike ride back.

Now on to the part that annoys me about this entire thing. I was going to live stream the ride on my YouTube channel so the people who I'm going to visit could check out my progress as I ride down to them and back. Only I learned the other day that you need to have at least 1000 subscribers to your channel in order to live stream. I'm well short of 1000, so that part isn't going to work and now I'm annoyed by that. Maybe I'll figure something else out before then

Bianchi is my favorite had a San Remo steel frame for twenty years that I used for communiting and a little touring, never a problem. Now I have an alum frame Trek, it's alright bit wouldn't want to tour with it.
Are you going to camp with panniers or go light and stay at accomodations along the way?

I'm taking a course for work and today I had the mid-term exam. Since there's no in-person proctoring at the moment, I had to go through Examity. It's an online proctoring service for those who don't know it. I registered for a proctor, set up a profile, made sure my computer met the requirements, etc. When I wanted to begin the exam I couldn't because the Proctor pass code wasn't showing up. I exited to try to log in again but this action caused the exam access to disappear. I thought, 'oh fuck, I submitted a blank exam and now I have zero". I used the chat help feature but it was very poor quality, I was unable to see the agent's responses. I asked for a call but when the agent tried to call me the number came up as "suspected SPAM call" and wouldn't ring through. I hung up, tried to call myself but the reception was SO bad, I could hear the person at all. I hung up again and called again, the next person I was speaking with had such a heavy Indian accent, I couldn't understand much, so once again, I hung up, called in again, but this time got a person who was able to help me so that I could take the exam. What an ordeal! Mon dieu! On the plus side, I like that the exam results are instant, got 88%. Better than I expected because the bad experience I had initially really put me off which made me second case some of the answers.

For the first time in 10 years I didn't send any Xmas cards. Got to spend Xmas with my family, but I just wasn't happy. I missed my cousin's calls this year.
However, I don't think anyone was going to miss my cards.

I just noticed today that a racoon has been pooping on my balcony !!

I was looking out my kitchen window onto the balcony and I noticed a big pile of poop in one of my empty planters!

A couple of weeks ago scaffolding was set up on the front of my building to start brick restoration. I'm thinking the racoon must be climbing up that and accessing my balcony. I live on the 2nd floor so not too high up. Also, there's a tree right in front of me too. Maybe it climbs up the tree and uses the scaffolding as a bridge.

I have to clean it up before the planter becomes its regular pooping place.
