Sorry for your loss. It's little consolation but at least she isn't suffering any more.

My wife may get a really good job offer in Plano Texas which is about half an hour North of Dallas which would mean moving out there, something I'm not thrilled about. She's burning out in her current job and the hour plus commute from Huntington Beach to Arcadia is pretty brutal. Obviously the cost of living would be substantially less then here in Coastal SoCal and I'm sure we could buy a much bigger house for a lot less money then what we have here (cramped, old 1,000 sq ft, 3 bedroom house + pool estimated at $600k+) but from what I've read so far, it's basically like living in Tucson AZ with more humidity, better thunderstorms and no state taxes.

Plano is a weird town it's a college town but also as you mentioned close to Dallas where Deep Elum has a pretty good music scene. Traffic can be shitty depending on where you live but there are a lot of lakes and as you mentioned the cost of living is lower. When I took a lesser role in my bars I decided San Marcos and Wimberly were for me but that's down in the hill country but the cost of living out here is amazing and if you like BBQ then there is no better place to be.

What size are you? I'll take all of your board shorts, tank tops, and sandals. Drive up to Los Alamitos, we have a "Boot Barn" here. You can kill two birds with one stone: get rid of all of the beachwear you're not going to need anymore and stock up on boots, Levis, and cowboy hats.

I went through a cowboy boot phase in the 80s. I had four pairs, all different. One pair was in black suede, another tan leather with heel, another was solid burgundy leather, and a two-tone pair with red with tan.

She was with me tonight in spirit (I've been carrying her name tag) at ATDI and they were amazing

My dog Doug had an fibrocartilagenous embolism (FCE or spinal stroke) last night. He now has limited use of his back limbs, his front right leg and messed up proprioception which means trouble standing and can barely walk. They say the prognosis isn't terrible with aggressive physical therapy, but he's 10 already. I love that little fucker and it hurts to see him like this.
