 Yeah, I was a little surprised that you wouldn't know who he is since you seem to be on top of what's going on in the sports world.

He should be the best sprinter in the world at the next Olympics. The current batch of Jamaicans will be too old by then, and the American youngsters aren't as good as De Grasse.

The Chinese and Brazilian women just put on a hell of a volleyball match

Congrats to the Chinese women for winning.

I swear, if I was 6'11" and not 5'11", I would have tried my best to be a professional volleyball player. I loved playing it in school and love watching it being played.

I found something I don't like about the Olympics.

Immediate disqualification for a false start.

These people spend years building up to run in the Olympics and that's all taken away for jumping a bit too early?

Terrible.

They used to allow two false starts, but it fucks with the other runners. It can be a tactic to false start the first one to rattle them.

I heard some recent interview clips from him today and if I had to give him a nickname, it would be AquaSpicolli.

When I watched Carl Lewis in Los Angeles I remember being totally awestruck. Aside from Ben Johnson being a doper, he would have won in Seoul too. Then over the past decade I have had so much admiration for Usain Bolt, and last night just topped it off. He is simply the best sprinter we've ever seen. But I guess my point is how long before we have another? Someone else who breaks Bolt's records? It's not a yearly thing, so are we talking 20 years plus? Thank you Usain, it's been a pleasure watching you.

I can't rule DeGrasse out. Some of the commentators noted that if you start comparing the two, despite the fact that they have very different builds and running styles, there are some glimmers that DeGrasse may be even better than Bolt. Bolt didn't medal/make it to the finals at his first Olympics. DeGrasse has managed TWO, including a silver behind the greatest sprinter of all time. DeGrasse's physical peak will be at the next Olympics, so he has a good 3-4 years to put on some muscle and refine his technique. But he already broke the Canadian 200m record, in a semi-final race, and he's already running 9.91 and 19.8... So it's very possible.

I cant see de grasse shaving off much more than a couple hundredths of a second off his currrent times.
Hes too little and you can tell he's probably already max'd out his potential.
Bolt hit his peak around the same age and even on his record breaking sprints he would coast
towards the end because he's so far ahead of everyone.

De Grasse is 21. Bolt peaked where most sprinters peak, around 24-25.

I think Bolt peaked before that, he was only about 17-18 yrs old his first olympics when he didnt medal.
Probably peaked around 23 yrs old if yr going strictly by times.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to watch this from Denmark, but CBC Olympics coverage is pretty good.

Here's a link to test out. Currently a few events are "in progress".

True, he was turning 23 when he set his best times. Obviously there's no exact date after which you can't run faster anymore. Still, the consensus is roughly lower to mid-20s for male sprinters, so I think it's safe to think that De Grasse still has some time. It doesn't have to be at the Olympics, anyway.

And yeah, I agree that it's hard to imagine him competing with Bolt's times given his size, but Bolt shouldn't be as good at the 100 as he is. So who knows. :noclue:
