I hope I get KV for Secret Santa this year. I'm going to break UK postal records for sending old school 'soccer' memorabilia.

"quarter and semi finals a few times" = "semi finals in 1930 [when the WC was invitation-only and like 3 teams participated] and quarter finals in 2002 [in a WC where they lost to Poland, a team who scored only 3 goals in the tournament, all of them against the US]."

But seriously, the US' national football team has consistently been, at least since I was 6, one of the most boring teams I've ever seen.

Not that I ever thought Chile was going to make it against Brazil... but fuck me, that was close. Seeing Medel cry made me tear up. He's a monster. Chile deserved to win.

Most of these players still have a couple of Copa Américas and one World Cup left in them. They can still do something big for Chile, especially in next year's Copa América as they'll be playing at home. They've shown to be up there with any world-class team. I'm extremely impressed.

Yeah, I really thought Chile was going to win this one. Even with some questionable refereeing, Chile was the better team, imo. In the end it really came down to luck, Brasil scraped through. I guess a win is a win.

Next match: Colombia vs Uruguay

I vote for Colombia

If this match ends with 22 players on the pitch, I'll eat a cheeseburger. I hate cheeseburgers.

I don't really like the Mexican team nor their players (except for Chicharito, who's been alienated by everyone else...) and the manager of the Dutch team is the manager of Manchester United. The only human being I want to win the World Cup more than Louis van Gaal is Lionel Messi.

I only support Latinamerican teams (but that only time with France, now I'm all in for Brazil). It was a great game. Don't want to recreate my breakdown on here too
