Who will win the EURO 2012?
Who will win the EURO 2012?
In spite of the absence of Puyol, I'm going for Spain. Very strong and experienced-yet-young squad.
If not... then I can't really choose between Germany and Netherlands. If Afellay stays healthy, they might just win it.

Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
Based on the fact that Italy is dealing with another soccer scandal, I say Italy. I do believe the last two times they won the world cup was following or during a major soccer scandal.
Besides I always go for Italy, but I'd have to put Spain up there.

Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
I voted Spain. Best players, best looking team
I do not like the Netherlands team especially Robben and van Persie. Very unfair players. Country is nice though.
Germany: may have a chance but i am not a fan. Really not.

Brazil? Are they in it? Otherwise meh

It's a European championship, so yeah damn right they are in!!Juana wrote:Brazil? Are they in it? Otherwise meh
Larry, why is Brasil not even in the poll?
You suck
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
I think Spain, although I reckon France may have a good shout. Not really bothered about England, I'm more interested in club football than international footie.
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
Hit the nail on the head with that comment. Other than it being "England", I have zero interest... those players don't represent me in any way. I hope the tournament is a good one though as the last world cup was an absolutely horrendous spectacle.Bandit72 wrote:Not really bothered about England, I'm more interested in club football than international footie.
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
But if England does win, won't you celebrate like you've just banged Christina Hendricks?Japhy wrote:Hit the nail on the head with that comment. With Stewart Downing in the squad, you're already in the final!
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
England won't win
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
I'll let you know! Sure i guess that i'd be happy for the country but I wouldn't necessarily be stoked for Ashley Cole / Stewart Downing etc etc. I wouldn't go down to London and cheer them at a bus parade, that's for sure.Larry B. wrote: But if England does win, won't you celebrate like you've just banged Christina Hendricks?
And how i managed to write some words down when all i could think about was banging Christina Hendricks is a total mystery.
and yeah... this.Mescal wrote:England won't win
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
England won't win no. They have no expectation to either. Chances are, Rooney (who's been poor in international tournaments since 2004) will come on in the last group game and get sent off.
I watched that Panorama program on Poland and Ukraine the other day and thought it was a bit odd that a lot of people were surprised/appalled about the amount of open racism over there. Do these people not get out/travel? Not condoning it, I'm just saying.

Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
Tell me about it. I travelled round Poland in '99 and it was ridiculous. I went to see Poland play Sweden and the second the match kicked off, so did the fighting... all between Poles. Practically every place i went smacked of 70's football hooligan culture. The fact that these 2 countries have been "rewarded" with the competition is an absolute farce.Bandit72 wrote: I watched that Panorama program on Poland and Ukraine the other day and thought it was a bit odd that a lot of people were surprised/appalled about the amount of open racism over there. Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
Yeh. I was in Poland in 1991 just as it was becoming "westernised". I'd just come back from visiting Auschwitz and got arrested for running over an open train line in Oświęcim to catch a connecting train to Krakow. Hardly an horrendous offence as the locals were crossing the line too. My friend and myself were escorted to the station by a Polish guard wielding a rather large machine gun where I was greeted by a German guard who spoke no English who then took it upon himself to stare up at me from under his peeked hat abusing me in German. The only English he knew was "you English scum". Granted this is not a fair reflection of the country, but you could tell that this was a feeling of the divide between one half of Europe and the other. Intimidation is a poor way of policing in my opinion. From what I saw of that Panorama program, the police/army don't really give a shit about foreigners even in 2012.Japhy wrote:Tell me about it. Denmark just crushed The Netherlands!! Now we just need to take care of Germany and Portugal pretty evil group we're in

Very smart game from Denmark and the Netherlands had some dreadful aim. Robben keeps flopping at the big stageMatz wrote:Denmark just crushed The Netherlands!! Now we just need to take care of Germany and Portugal pretty evil group we're in

dreadful aim: I can agree. it was dreadful. it was terribly dreadful.Larry B. wrote:Very smart game from Denmark and the Netherlands had some dreadful aim. about robben: I know what you mean but I don't agree. do not forget, the dutch team and bayern Munchen would NOT have gotten to the finals if it weren't without him. so yes, he misses the final stage of complete succession but he sure does not flop at the big stage (1/8 final at the world cup two years ago/semi final champions league against real madrid...). he might not be very sympathetic but he's welcome. I'd let him shoot penalties, still.
general sentiment amongst me & friends, before this game against denmark and after, is that huntelaar should be our main striker, not van persie. personally, I think van marwijk is a great coach for this team, but he's too stubborn with his faith in van persie. I know where it comes from but he really is too stubborn. if he's wise, he'll start with huntelaar against germany next wednesday. but I guess he won't.
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
that's pretty pathetic, I missed that during the game, I was only watching it with one eye

Great game today between Spain and Italy. I can't help but feel bad for Torres. There is talent, but zero confidence. Such poor decision-making. I seriously think he's been having some kind of sexual problem and/or he found out his woman had been cheating on him or something. Great decision by Del Bosque to have Fabregas as a false 9.
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
Why do referees hate Ireland so much?
Re: Who will win the EURO 2012?
i like seeing all the flags people have on their cars during this type of event. mostly, i have seen portuguese, italian, and german flags.
so, i was reading there is a pyschic pig and elephant prediciting the winners ??

Best game so far : Spain/Italy. I hope Spain makes it and i am sure Torres will overcome his sexual problems and score
Overall i am pretty disappointed by the games so far - i fell asleep during some of them....
Looking forward to France vs. England today.
