i also didnt go to too many shows this year. i feel like no one i like was touring and im kinda over waiting around at shows and dealing with douchebags.

st vincent was probably best performance, but i had such a miserable concert experience that it kind of took away from it. nin and soundgarden was fun, as was Trust cause he's perhaps my favorite artist right now and i was front row. im seeing Trust again tomorrow at a tiny club in williamsburg thats being shut down in two days.

overall, this was an off year for me though.

Since '78, there's only been one other year ('96) besides this year that I saw only one concert the whole 12 months so by default, Arcade Fire at the LA Forum in August wins.

I don't think I did either. I missed one in the summer because my car got towed.

The years not even over yet i'm struggling to remember where i've been and what i've seen.

Ones that immediately spring to mind are The Wytches, Basement Jaxx and Janes. The Basement Jaxx show was the biggest plus as it was a 'wife's choice' show which i usually just grimace my way through... however, they were utterly brilliant and the live spectacle was very impressive.

Next year looks decent with a bunch already lined up... Jose Gonzalez being the one I'm most looking forward to at this point in time.

I think I only went to three major concerts: Metallica, McCartney and Fantômas. I'd have to say that Paul's was the best. Although the multimedia intro was extremely dull and lasted about 15 minutes, the show is otherwise flawless. Expensive as hell, though.

I only went to a festival this year...
1. Beck (I've always wanted to see him live and wasn't disappointed at all)
2. GOASTT (Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, Sean Lennon's band with his gf)
3. Weezer (first time I saw them, was a lot of fun)
4. The Cavernarios, last one of the year and I liked it because I won tickets to see the taping of their show.
I really don't remember if I saw more. I'm getting old.

I went to 4 shows and saw 2 bands. Off! twice and Neutral Milk Hotel twice. I'll give the best show of 2014 award to NMH. For 15 years I never thought I would have an opportunity to see them and since I've seen Off! about 5 or 6 times NMH win.

I only saw one show, Black Sabbath. It was a solid rock show. They played all the songs exactly like they are on the album, which is not my preference, but they do it well.

I'd seen Ozzy before, but never Iomi and Butler. I just wish they could have kept Bill Ward on board (although the drummer they had was perfect).

I'm actually watching a live Blu Ray shot in Melbourne on the same tour. It's basically the exact same same show I saw.

It's funny, but I've seen Ozzy and Black Sabbath literally dozens of times on their own going back to 1980 but never together as the original lineup. Although I did see Ozzy reunite with BS for a few songs during his encore on the final show of his 1992 tour. I've always preferred the Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath and the reunion tour they did in 2007 I saw at the LA Forum was outstanding.

Really? To me nothing beats the Ozzy fronted Sabbath!

Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Sabotage, Masters of Reality ... They're just the best rock albums ever made by any band ever. They're the blueprint of any rock album after that.

Ozzy did the nasal drug infused frontman schtik better than Perry. Heck, he invented it.
