What made your day today?
Re: What made your day today?
It's been a few years but I FINALLY managed to get some new cymbals and get my drums set up again, and in a spot where I can play them regularly. I have a renewed vigor in attacking those motherfuckers.

Got news today that I'm finally going to Teotihuacán in a few weeks (crossing my fingers about getting inside the tunnel I've analyzed and have been fed up with it lately)

I'm visiting a friend in Edinburgh right now and I climbed Arthur's Seat today. It was gorgeous.

Watching some idiot trying to get the attention of a passing cab by clicking his fingers. then shaking his head in disgust as the cab continued on its way. With its passenger..

It's a very short trip bc I'm in the middle of my school semester back home. But I'm doing a day trip to Dublin and then unfortunately flying home Sunday. This city is simply gorgeous.krakle wrote:oh sweet! I have family & friends there too. And Hype, I did visit that graveyard and saw his grave although I can't say I know much about him.

I'm jealous that you have a spot to play. I end up playing for studio time just to practice these days.wally wrote:It's been a few years but I FINALLY managed to get some new cymbals and get my drums set up again, and in a spot where I can play them regularly. He was a big fat jolly Scotsman philosopher in the 1700s who never got a job as a teacher, but did get a job as a librarian and historian. He wrote one of the most comprehensive histories of the British Isles, and he published his most famous work when he was only 24 years old (A Treatise of Human Nature, which he had started writing at age 16!)farrellgirl99 wrote:And Hype, I did visit that graveyard and saw his grave although I can't say I know much about him.
Dude was the one to say that metaphysics should be "consigned to the flames", and basically jump-started British Empiricist philosophy. Kant famously said that it was David Hume who "awoke me from my dogmatic slumber" (and thus Hume is to blame for German Critical Philosophy and German Idealism). He is also *the* major figure of the Scottish Enlightenment (and since Kant is a major figure in the German one, Hume figures there too).
It's cool that you saw his grave. When I visited, the tourist info people didn't know who he was. They had to go searching through some old books to figure it out.
Tbh, I didn't find Edinburgh that pretty. Most of my family live up north, and to me that's really the essence of Scotland (the Balmoral grounds and stuff...)

I was talking to someone who used to post here last night and I won't be complaining anymore about the weather.
While it's been warm and nice, I can't believe it's been snowing so much at some other places

Wow that is a HUGE snowman!
I am happy that it is finally sunny and clear. The whole week has been snowing, raining, cloudy, and gray.

The Italian word for brush - spazzolino.
A spazzolino da denti is a toothbrush. I have a spazzolino electrico.
It's probably not that funny, but I am in a silly mood today.

That´s a pity. I used to travel a lot when in college. Now I don´t have that kind of time anymore.creep wrote:i thought you were a poor college student. i didn't get to travel when i was in college.sinep wrote:that's some beautiful grassfarrellgirl99 wrote:I'm visiting a friend in Edinburgh right now and I climbed Arthur's Seat today. On a whim I put my resume back on Monster and a few job sites a few weeks ago (even though I'm content where I am right now)... checked my email today to discover like half a dozen different agencies, etc are asking me for interviews...good to know my skills are in demand somewhere...

Re: What made your day today?
I'm a law clerk that specializes in intellectual properties (trademarks) data administration...tedious work, but the company I work for is a good one and I finally have found a spot with some upward mobility, good benefits, etc...putting the resume up was basically to see where the market is at these days...nausearockpig wrote:nice one.
