The hipster thread
The hipster thread
- I knew and liked No Doubt before they became a hit with "Tragic Kingdom".
- I knew and liked Green Day right before they became famous with "Dookie".
- I was basically the only Chilean who was a die-hard fan of Jane's Addiction, during my high-school years (1997-2001)
- A lot lamer, but I read the first Harry Potter way before it was "a thing"

Re: The hipster thread
So, are you coming out to us as a hipster, Larry?
Re: The hipster thread
I was actually expecting to hear some of your own hipsterisms...
Re: The hipster thread
oh, i guess i didn't get that.
okay, i think got some hipster in me.
i didn't have a TV before it was cool not to have a TV.
i still havea ghetto blaster with tape deck that i sometimes play cassettes on. (i have about 300+cassettes)
i would say i am au currant when it comes to music. i know when i am at work, and the topic of music comes up, my co-workers have no idea about the music i'm talking about.
i don't have a complicated haircut, but it's thickness and coarseness does add complications in styling, so it could be considered hipsterish,i guess.
i have always been in the know about cool bars and restaurants and what the latest scene is before it' becomes mainstream.
that's all i can think of . i don't wear skinny jeans or try to dress like an old lady with ugly dresses that some of the hipster girls wear.

Re: The hipster thread
I fucking hate Harry Potter. With a passion.
Re: The hipster thread
All the people I know in the UK detest Harry Potter and share your exact sentiment.Bandit72 wrote:I fucking hate Harry Potter. With a passion.

Re: The hipster thread
I think I may have posted this on Xiola, but anyway, it's funny:

I have pictures of my Dad from the 70's that would fit right in on this web site, in fact, some of them are way funnier than many of the pictures here. I'm going to send them in some day.

Re: The hipster thread
I always thinks it's good to be reminded that someone was cool before I was. And I'm not at all a hipster but dammit, I think I'm pretty cool. Thanks for this link. I feel this guy was ripped off by that one liquor company that posts images about how cool your dad was and how you should drink what he drank...Lokus wrote:I think I may have posted this on Xiola, but anyway, it's funny:

Re: The hipster thread
My dad was never cool, but I'm hella cool. Specially because I say 'hella'.
Re: The hipster thread
if you think saying "hella" is cool, never come to southern california.Larry B. wrote:My dad was never cool, but I'm hella cool. Specially because I say 'hella'.
ever.
you'd fit in perfectly right up north though.
Re: The hipster thread
Exactly! Tolkien lived about 3 miles away from me now and I still think he's shit. Not that my opinion is necessarily valid as his stories include three of the biggest grossing films of all time. I just don't get it. The same as I just don't get Harry Potter. I probably would be wanking all over it (and Hermione) if I was 10, but I'm not. I don't really understand adults who cannot wait for children's books/films to come out. It all seems a bit Fred West to me.Pure Method wrote:Matz wrote:me too and Lord of the Rings. Re: The hipster thread
ok, I'm tired to look for Fred West, but I did jump on the Harry Potter bandwagon...just watch the third movie, Alfonso Cuarón never understood why he was picked to direct it after doing "Y tu mamá también".

Re: The hipster thread
Frederick Walter Stephen West (29 October 1941 – 1 January 1995), was a British serial killer. Between 1967 and 1987, he and his wife Rosemary, tortured, raped and murdered at least 11 young women and girls, many at the couple's homes. The majority of the murders occurred between May 1973 and September 1979 at their home in Gloucester. Rosemary West also murdered Fred's stepdaughter (his first wife's biological daughter) Charmaine, while he was serving a prison sentence for theft. During this time they resided at 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester. The house was demolished in 1996 and was converted into a landscaped footpath connecting Cromwell Street to St. Michaels Square.perkana wrote:ok, I'm tired to look for Fred West, but I did jump on the Harry Potter bandwagon...just watch the third movie, Alfonso Cuarón never understood why he was picked to direct it after doing "Y tu mamá también".
