I disagree. There's a lot of reports and footage starting to show up that the damage and especially flooding is every bit as bad as predicted.

I'm not trying to sound like a pussy, but this is the scariest shit I've been through. It is an awful feeling. I'm in my basement with my wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs and one of our cats. We have no power and all we can do is just sit here listening to this hurricane rip apart the trees. We have lost over ten huge trees.

Happy we are safe in the basement and the kids are asleep, but hate not being able to do anything. Can't wait for this to be over. Neighbors are texting everyone is losing a lot trees.

I hope everyone is safe.

hi yall

i still have power (one of the plus sides of living in central queens on somewhat high ground). but from what ive heard a lot of people have lost it and there is flooding in manhattan up to 34th street.

i know NYU hospital lost power and had to evacuate, coney island hospital was on fire, and Bellevue hospital only has one hour of backup power left.

really scary shit. i hope everyone is doing okay.

The storm has all but disappeared, despite the satellite images on tv. We still have some winds. I'd say the gusts are about 35-40 mph.
Still have power.

Tomorrow will be a crazy cleanup day.

I had to go to work today and they let us out at 9pm (so nice of them) it was near peak of the storm. I honestly about shit myself driving down the highway and onto the side streets to my house watching tree limbs fall on the road. I drove like grandpa on I-95 and felt my car veer almost off the road next to NSA. How we kept power (still knocking on wood) I dont know.

Hope everyone in NY NJ and PA are fairing well also!

That's fucked up anyone would have to go to work in that crap. That's putting lives at risk. Hope everyone is ok. It will be hard to say with all the power outages. :wavesad:

I feel horrible for all you who had to suffer. Living in Park Slope, Brooklyn we got nothing. I mean not even a leaf on my car outside. Some wind gusts and rain but that's it. No power less either.

I've been closely watching this thread and am thinking of ALL of you on the right coast. So far, it sounds like she lived up to every expectation.

It appears NJ took the worst of the storm. It's gonna take a lot of work to get things back in order.

We still have power while surrounding neighborhoods are out. I've got a lot of yard work to do. Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaves. :(

Very thankful that we got spared.

All well on my end...in my town pretty much 40% of the area lost power...we never did, but LOTS of tree limbs all over, etc...wondering how I'm going to get to work in the next few days and very thankful the worst of it didn't hit my area...pretty sure Romeo's out of power as they're saying 90% of Long Island is experiencing power outage... :scared:

The crane swinging on 57th in Manhattan is very close to one of my company's main buildings as well...really scary...

Sandy's devastation is clearly evident here in leveled homes in the Breezy Point neighborhood of Queens, New York.

It's strange. I am hearing vastly different descriptions from people who reside in the same areas.

those homes were destroyed by a fire. the description makes it sound like they were blown down. of course the fire was caused by the storm so i guess it still counts as storm damage. :noclue:

Still no power, but again family and house are safe. Lost 20+ trees. There were two clear paths of destruction. One in front of the house that took out a line of trees from my yard to the neighbors, it looks like dominoes. In the back it is far worse but the same thing, but stretching across 4 properties.

Had 5-6 trees across my driveway. The trees that came down had their whole root system pulled up. This was one mean storm. Makes you realize how small we are. A couple were killed in the town next to me while driving a tree hit them. But today everyone was out helping chainsaw to clear driveways. One guy had a bobcat and he would clear the trees after everyone chainsawed them.

Happy the family and house are safe, sad at all the trees that were lost in the neighborhood.

I will try to post some pictures.
