NBA
Re: NBA
Yep, definitely a statement game!
We see you twice next week.
A rumour I read is that Houston is interested in Nick Nurse and Ime Udoka to come to Toronto. I do agree that we need a change from Nick Nurse. I like his interesting combos and switching lineups frequently, but there are times when I scratch my head. He overplays some players and underplays others..

Looks like we fight for the scraps, Artemis
After last night, I'm reminded how little hope I currently still have that the Bulls will get out of the first game...Zach's quote was maddening postgame, "I just think they wanted it more than us."

Our last 3 games are tough: Celtics tonight and Friday ,
Bucks on Sunday.
Re: NBA
Two teams enter, one team leaves
We've got Bucks rematch tonight, Mavs on Friday, Pistons on Sunday. I've given up on guessing what games this team will most likely win/lose. I don't know if I've ever been this baffled by a Bulls squad.

Re: NBA
They really didn't though. Unless you meant the opening game which they won.
10 games in they were 5-5.
20 games in they were 9-11.
30 games in they were 12-18.
Last season they started 27-12 before Lonzo got injured. When they were told Lonzo won't be anywhere near ready at the start this year and he still couldn't even run or practice yet, you could tell the optimism from the players themselves was gone.

Yeah, around the 15-game mark is the where I succumbed to "Yeah, this isn't working."clickie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 11:46 am

I think a lot of the fanbase (myself included) had high hopes for the growth of Ayo and what he could contribute at PG, considering how good his rookie season was. I think he had way too much piled on him, and it also didn't seem like he was getting a lot of the mentoring from Lonzo that people thought he was receiving.
I think fans also needed to remember that Zach had full knee surgery this off-season and was still very much coming back from that the first half of the season. He's back to form in many ways now, but it was too late to bring the team back in any way this season.
I think we have enough evidence to show that the "Big 3" does not work well without an adequate point guard distributing to them. I sadly don't have much hope that Lonzo will be back before his contract is up (feel horrible for him that his career could be over). As such, I think big changes need to be made in the off-season, and I hope AKME will do that.
I know a team that has a competitive group of guys will never want to tank, but I really think they made the wrong move trying to push for a play-in that they'll most likely not win.
So, at the end of this season, we'll likely have no postseason and no lottery chance (think it's currently at 1.7% now).
PS - one highlight of the season has been the crazy growth of Coby White!
Re: NBA
Little after halftime check - How're we feeling, Artemis?
Re: NBA
I actually dislike Memphis more than the Lakers now so I really hope you guys can pull it off.
I tried to get tickets for Saturday but Kings playoff tickets set a record for the most expensive first round series ever. I'm not paying $400+ for shitty tickets.
Re: NBA
Sorry, Artemis. I did not see that final result in the tea leaves at all.
I'm still baffled at Toronto's free throw woes tonight??? No way that Diar DeRozan's shrieks made that much of a difference.
Re: NBA
Grats, thoreau!
I thought we were getting the W for sure but then Zach LaVine sprung into action and Demar's daughter...
Missing 18 free throws is ridiculous! Oh well, until next season..
Good luck against Miami tomorrow night! I'll be cheering for you guys.
Re: NBA
I was glad DeMar said after the game his daughter won't be at the Miami game. I do think she had some impact on Toronto's poor free throw shooting as crazy as it sounds, but I didn't want that becoming part of the story anymore leading up to and then during the next game.

If Zach had not kicked it into that next gear, no way we pulled that out. I'm happy for him that he finally has a big postseason game under his belt.
Minus the missed free throws, Fred and Pascal never cease to impress me!
Next season will be here before you know it, and it sounds like you might be in for an interesting eventful off-season!

I agree, especially when the free throwing or lack thereof was the x-factor.clickie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 2:17 pmI was glad DeMar said after the game his daughter won't be at the Miami game. I already saw Zach is petitioning that she make the trip.
