Now Watching...
Re: Now Watching...
The night of was cool, got a little wanky with the plot twists but overall was pretty good and John Turturo was excellent.
Just binged the first 7 episodes of Vice Principals, not as funny as East Bound And Down but funny and worth watching.
Shameless is back soon!

A few new shows I like:
Atlanta
High Maintenance
Quarry
This Is Us (Actually, I'm on the fence about this one)
Pitch
Designated Survivor
Finished Season 3 of Transparent- best one yet!
The new Macgyver sucks. I watched about half of the first episode and gave up on it.

Re: Now Watching...
Haven't read this thread but my sweets has been seriously trying to get me into "Stranger Things" on Netflix...watched the first one....Felt super 80's...even the music with its cheeze synths....might end up digging this one ...edit and I read back one page and saw yer all on it ...Now I gotta catch up
Re: Now Watching...
i assume these are network shows since i never heard of them. i just don't watch any network shows anymore. i wish i did but i have a hard time starting one. the last network show i can remember watching is the blacklist. i gave up on that because it started getting so unbelievable. i see that is started again.Artemis wrote:A few new shows I like:

i finally started mad men. just finished the first season and i really like it so far.
my next old series that i never watched is going to be the west wing i think. i like a lot of sorkin stuff. is it worth getting in to?

Atlanta - FX
High Maintenance-HBO

Pitch-Fox
Designated Survivor-ABC
I watched Mad Men for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. I've never seen The West Wing either, should give it a whirl.
Oh, I tried to watch the Gilmour Girls but did not got into it at all. I know people really love it, but not my cup of tea.
Re: Now Watching...
I've seen This is Us and Designated Survivor. I'm interested enough to watch the next (3rd) episode of each. This is Us is clever and Designated Survivor is disturbing, but the brief smatterings of schmaltz detract from the strengths of each show.Artemis wrote:A few new shows I like:

I'm going to give Quarry a try.
I have seen the first two episodes of The Exorcist (Fox). I wasn't expecting much, but it isn't bad. Ben Daniels (Father Marcus Lang) is really good.
Re: Now Watching...
i watched the amanda knox doc on netflix. it was really interesting. i didn't really follow the case when it was happening so it was pretty new to me. i'm not 100% convinced that she had nothing to do with it. her "confession" is what gets me to have some doubt. if you are innocent i don't get why you would ever admit to any involvement. it's happened many times before so i guess it does happen.
Re: Now Watching...
John Turturro remained awesome, and Chalky White (sorry, forgot his name for this show) was cool, but I really started to dislike everyone else on the show.crater wrote:The Night Of ..
Is an awesome show.
By the final episode I was hoping for Naz to get shanked in prison.

I still struggle with the notion that shameless got remade in the U.S., I don't get how it can transcribe from gritty Manchester ?blackula wrote:The night of was cool, got a little wanky with the plot twists but overall was pretty good and John Turturo was excellent.

i just finished mad men. i got through seven seasons way too fast. now i'm bummed that that there are no more. i thought the ending was good,. it left you wanting more but shows never wrap everything up anymore. great series.Artemis wrote:Some are network and some not..creep wrote:i assume these are network shows since i never heard of them. i just don't watch any network shows anymore. i wish i did but i have a hard time starting one. the last network show i can remember watching is the blacklist. i gave up on that because it started getting so unbelievable. i see that is started again.Artemis wrote:A few new shows I like:

Re: Now Watching...
creep, you really have to watch Quarry. It's only 8 episodes, season finale was last night. I think it's one of the best shows I have watched all year. The acting, directing, story and camera work are excellent. Last night's finale was close to perfection for tying up loose ends; it left the viewer satisfied. The entire series was directed by one director, Greg Yaitanes. Oh, and the music in the show is pretty great too.
Here's an example of the music. This is a cover of Sam &Dave tune. The show is set in early 70s Memphis.

Thought this was awesome (loved the scabby defence lawyer) until the last episode - felt cheatedcreep wrote:there is a lot to wrap up in one episode. before this episode i thought they were going to find the real killer but nasir would murder someone in jail and end up staying behind bars.crater wrote:The Night Of ..

now i think he gets killed in jail and that is the end of the story. trial over. he leaves behind something where he confesses to the murder.

Everyone should watch this

Re: Now Watching...
i love shameless, but feel it is an acquired taste. its a character driven show so if you get invested in the characters youll enjoy it, no matter how ridiculous it gets. and it gets really ridiculous. its lost steam the last few seasons like all showtime shows, but the first few seasons were great. i still enjoy watching it, but its not a show you can take too seriously after all the bullshit theyve pulled with storylines. great acting though.creep wrote:just finished it. really cool show. hope they bring it back.Artemis wrote:

Re: Now Watching...
Agree. The last couple of seasons were so-so, but this year is better, I think. I can't stand Fiona's character, though this year, she's stronger. My fave character is Lip. I also find him really attractive.farrellgirl99 wrote:i love shameless, but feel it is an acquired taste. its a character driven show so if you get invested in the characters youll enjoy it, no matter how ridiculous it gets. and it gets really ridiculous. its lost steam the last few seasons like all showtime shows, but the first few seasons were great. i still enjoy watching it, but its not a show you can take too seriously after all the bullshit theyve pulled with storylines. great acting though.creep wrote:just finished it. really cool show. hope they bring it back.Artemis wrote:

Earlier this year I binge watched the original British series and enjoyed it. I think the American version is done pretty well and worth watching.
Re: Now Watching...
I just saw yesterday that there's a remake of One Day At A Time airing on Netflix tonight at midnight(13 episodes). The younger ones here probably don't know it, but it was a sitcom from the mid 70s to the early 80s). I'll check out a couple of episodes..
Re: Now Watching...
Season 3 of American Crime looks good.
Starts March 12thAs in the case every year, American Crime will have a new setting, new characters and a new storyline in the upcoming third season. The critically acclaimed drama is known for tackling complex issues through the prism of various committed crimes. In the first two seasons, it took on the subjects of race and class.
According to Deadline, Season 3 will take on a story about “labor issues, economic divides and individual rights.” The whole thing will be set in North Carolina (although filming has been moved to Los Angeles after the show was awarded a California tax credit).

I liked Billions.
A little while ago, I watched Goliath and enjoyed it. It's with Billy Bob Thornton.
I'm currently watching Riverdale and loving it. It's the dark, teen show based on the Archie comics. It started a few weeks ago, episode 4 this week. Luke Perry(90210 Dylan) plays Archie's dad.
Re: Now Watching...
i watched the first episode of big little lies on hbo. it was pretty good...at least good enough to continue watching it.
Re: Now Watching...
The kid that plays Ziggy is my niece's nephew (his Mom is my niece's sister in law) I only met him in-utero He started out on you-tube reviewing Broadway Shows.creep wrote:i watched the first episode of big little lies on hbo. it was pretty good...at least good enough to continue watching it.
Then Perez Hilton tapped him to do the red carpet interviews for the Tony's. His Dad is a Broadway actor Euan Morton and his Mom Lee is a Broadway Stage manager.
He did a fantastic job!
Re: Now Watching...
Detroiters on Comedy Central is pretty good. I laughed out loud a couple of times.
I've also watched Superior Donuts but I think it should be called Inferior Donuts. Great cast, but not very funny.
