no you aren't. i think he would be the first to admit that he loves to bitch.bman wrote:Just kidding.
Mark Lanegan has made a career out of it, Perry hasn't. It'd be one thing if he did that for new songs, but it wouldn't make sense for the old ones, and for what it's worth, I thought this performance was pretty good.Six7Six7 wrote:if he's gonna sing all raspy, i don't know why he doesn't just embrace it. Who's bitching? I'm just saying, he should embrace where his voice is instead of trying to fight it. I said the same thing before TGEA came out when someone posted some cover song he did with Peter Murphy's band. He sounded good when he just stayed low.bman wrote:Six7Six7 wrote:if he's gonna sing all raspy, i don't know why he doesn't just embrace it. Don't try to sing high with a rasp, just sing low.

sorry! I never post emoticons. But you love to bitch my friend!
he did get a hernia from singing recently so i guess the guy is trying but he just can't sustain his voice on tour.Six7Six7 wrote:Who's bitching? Yep. I almost walked out at the NIN/JA show I saw. Utterly heartbreaking. The Vibes show was infinitely better.Pandemonium wrote:That clip sums up all that was wrong with the Eric reunion once the NINJA tour started. There's a palpable wall between Eric and the other three guys, everything's being played tuned way too far down, and Perry constantly veers into clownish self-parody.
come on now. no one believes that.CaseyContrarian wrote:

Truth. It broke my fucking heart. Perry was in full Liberace mode, and I think they were tuned down the full step, which just sounded like shit. I hung out with them backstage before the show for at least an hour, so I was really hoping it would be good. I actually did leave early, as a matter of fact, during Summertime Rolls (second-to-last song).creep wrote:come on now. no one believes that.CaseyContrarian wrote:

How did u get to hang with them? I want real details.CaseyContrarian wrote:Truth. It broke my fucking heart. In fact, I think they went down 3 semitones at some point. By then, Eric's bass could've easily been used as a bow. It was awful.CaseyContrarian wrote:Perry was in full Liberace mode, and I think they were tuned down the full step, which just sounded like shit.

I hear ya. I was looking forward to the Jone's Beach Ninja show and I thought they blew. I think my seats and Jone's Beach being a wind swirl shit box contributed, but Perry sounded the worst I've ever seen. I went to lolla that year and he sounded much better. He was on fire at Irving Plaza this past October. I don't see how he can sustain a whole tour at this point, way too hit and miss.CaseyContrarian wrote:Truth. It broke my fucking heart.
