From the beginning, JANE’S ADDICTION has thrown the most unique parties in rock, mixing a fierce musicality with theatrical flair onstage. 2012 sees the band--who’ve always outrageously combined electricity, sex and danger--return in support of their acclaimed album THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST (Capitol Records), which features the now-buzzing-at-radio track “Underground.” Starting February 22, this special run of North American shows—called“Theatre of the Escapists”--will bring the band to intimate venues, most of which are classic theatres. The alternative rock pioneers--frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass—are poised to deliver an immersive theatrical experience as only they can. Tickets go on saleJanuary 14, with a pre-sale set for 10:00 EST this Wednesday, January 11. There will be a special package onJanesAddiction.com where fans can pair up their presale ticket with a high-quality lithograph. The lithograph will be signed by the band and sold only at the JanesAddiction.com presale.
i just gotta say, i hope this "theater of the escapists" thing doesn't turn out to be a show full of lame magic tricks performed by Perry and his "lovely" assistant Etty.
Perry: That was Underground, and now I am going to saw my lovely assistant Etty in half!
Perry: Hooray!
Perry: Hit it boys! If iiiiiiii were yooooooooooooooouuuuuu, i'd bettter waaaaaatch ouuuuuuuuut....
Come on, i guess the venues are overall pretty cool and i am glad they returned to that instead of doing stadium shows/co-headlining and i am sure some of the people here will attend now.
I am really bummed out. If they only do festivals here i am going to kill myself. Or if they come when i am on vacation in July.
So, i packed some beer into the fridge, it is going to be a nice evening.
That '03 show was where I met Hype. We also met up with dood and a few other people that don't post here. It was also a time when the marijuana laws were in limbo, so for awhile you could smoke where ever you wanted. I remember walking to the venue, smoking a joint with dood and hype, right past some cops!
What crazy venues..I guess I'm hitting Montclair NJ and Long Island. MAINE! Fuck if it's a ski weekend I might have to hit Maine just for the novelty! JAnes in MAINE!

I may go to this -- depends on what's happening then.
I've gotten so I hate the Koolhaus. It's literally just a warehouse, hence it's former name The Warehouse. Too wide, not long enough. If it's a very popular act (but not an arena band), once the place fills up, you're pretty stuck in that spot (if you don't want to lose it) and it's a pain in the ass to have to make your way to the can or the bar. But I hear what you're saying about it not being opera. Then again, I'm too old to have some jack-off bodysurfing over top of my head. I'm happy with a unobstructed view from a seat.
