Goldberg said that Jane's Addiction has something special planned for its New Year's Eve show, but would not reveal details. The group, which played Belly Up last New Year's Eve, also performs on Friday, Dec. 30. The group, led by singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro, released “The Great Escape Artist” in October, their first studio album in eight years.

Right. I'm sure it will be a new type of confetti this year or something. These guys (sans Eric) haven't done anything exciting with their live show since opening with Kettle Whistle and the parachute dress on the Jubilee tour.

Will this new confetti debut when the Here We Go from Stop coincides with the stroke of midnight.

So did I, I actually LOLd a little when I read that.

As for the show I went to one of the shows previously and it was a lot of fun. Say what you will about Perry but the man knows how to throw a party. It was the same as SXSW with the vibe and that is why if they ever play or come down during SXSW even Peretty Vs whatever I will still go because it was a lot of fun. Music might suck but the overall party vibe is great.

That being said they should play SOMEWHERE ELSE each year.

I'm not a fan of 311 but I like how they move 311 day around to new cities and stuff which is pretty cool.

They'll probably play Nothing's Shocking in it's entirety.

And Ritual the following night.

The "something special" is just for the 2nd show based on the quote. I'll be stunned if it's anything that a hardcore fan would care about.

Nah, based on the quote, it's not just the second show, because it's "Planned for its New Year's Eve show," and the other show is before the NYE show, and because the article states that JA "would not reveal details."

Maybe they'll have a special guest, or maybe they'll add another song from TGEA.

I agree with this view; I also think Eric will join them for these events and David J will be in the soundboard recording both shows for a special Blu-ray edition that will be provided free of charge for all members of aintnoright.org, along with a check for 800 dollars.

And Pete Distefano will join them onstage for some Porno For Pyros and Janes tunes.

From Twitter today:

@perryfarrell
The Great Escape Artist rt @baaraytaylay Perry, a lot of bands have done the 'entire cd' tour. Would JA do it and if so, which album?

Oh, that could be it. Faith No More did it recently, I guess they might've thought it's a good idea. It would be good to watch/hear that. Hopefully live, without backing tracks.

Did they buy everyone at the show a glass of champagne? I don't see how a streaming broadcast is something special for those in attendance.

Maybe the special thing for New Years Eve hasn't happened yet. Maybe it's delayed.
