The same reason he kicked out Jon Theodore and kicks out everyone but Cedric, shit most of Omar's solo projects are basically the Mars Volta under another name. Once De-Loused came out and was awesome he started to take a stranglehold of the band and they haven't been the same since. Though I like the first 3 albums alright, it seems more and more you can not tell the difference.

Also Thomas probably quit just like Jon but it's been reported that Omar "kicked them out"

I heard he was fired during a sound check in N Carolina. I remember Pridgen saying it was good not to be an employee anymore or something like that. He was sick when I saw them on the Goliath tour. Huge smile on his face as he pounded away.

And strangely closed-minded coming from Jane's Addiction fans...

Facinating.

Players in their 20's, 30's, and 40's with a very wide range of influences and expertise.

I remember beckoning Pete to partner with Eric and find a 20 something singer to rattle them a bit. I, for 1, am very much looking forward to this.

Should be good, I don't see how it won't.

Wow, dude that was funny! Grammar jokes are funny all the time and they are definitely the best come back in any casual online setting ever! That was good...you should do stand-up with Steve Harvey!

It has Ben Weinman in it... He is a genius. Just saw Dillinger, the other night.
I am excited about the thought of this band, I hope it is cohesive, I can't even imagine what it is going to sound like.

Hey all, new guy here. Anyway I figured I'd start of here by sharing some news on gto. In an interview conducted last week with weinman, he stated that Jon theodore is now the drummer, not pridgen. He also said that they are in no rush to complete the record but have about half of it done. They are also open to more collaborators. Google it to find the link. Happy new years!

Interview with Ben Weinman

http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/features/int ... e-plan.htm

A little snippet:
“We’re all really excited about it because our bands are all pretty busy,” he spurts with his characteristic youthful exuberance. “Eric Avery’s working on a solo record and we’re all pretty busy with our own things but we’re all very excited about this. Our heads are all in a million places right now.”

Ben has been a fan of Jane’s Addiction since he was a youngster and the process of working with a childhood hero has him more than excited for the future.

“Jane’s Addiction were really like the alternative, weird band that somehow managed to break into the mainstream and still maintain some level of weirdness. I was always drawn to that and somehow I relate to Eric and those guys. I was a huge Jane’s fan and I always just thought of them as the biggest band in the world for me.”

“It’s funny he’s from my time period growing up when music was the most important thing in my life. Those were the guys where you thought, ‘Holy shit those guys are sick you know, I love em’. So it’s been a real pleasure to work with him.”

Yeah, EA's not involved anymore, and probably a good move on his part. It sounds like a bad early 2000s post-Nu-metal garage piece of shit outtake from Velvet Revolver.
