Yeah, I was surprised at the venue. I think Livenation must be producing it and usually they'd use the Bill Graham Civic but Another Planet has an exclusive deal there now.

I don't think that lineup sells much more than 6000 tickets ... :noclue:

At any rate, I won't be able to do my backstage investigative reporter gig because I'll be working the Metallica show at the Fillmore. :wavesad:

yeah...part of the fun of going to a jane's show is staying in san francisco close to the venue. i'm not staying in oakland in the area where oracle is.

I don't agree. Florence+Mumford are pretty popular right now. I don't know how big the venue is, but I think they'll sell more than 6ooo tickets.

Correct. And Florence will have even more steam, as her much-anticipated album is out today.

never heard of them...

this is a basketball arena. It holds 20K. It will be half full if that.

Mumford alone are probably bigger than JA in '91. Florence is catching right up.

:agree:
Both bands are selling out everywhere they play these days. I'm actually a little surprised that Mumford didn't get top billing. If they did, I bet they'd sell out for sure.

Bush is quite popular too. Their latest release is doing fairly well. JA is kinda the odd band out in that lineup.

Not a chance. Bigger than in '91?

I'm with Creep. 20,000? No way. 10,000 yes.

Looks like an epic yawner bill. Janes will stick out like a sore thumb. What little I know and have seen of Mumford and Sons is a kinda low rent folkier version of Arcade Fire. They seem to be fairly big in Canada and have been playing larger theaters and arenas through North America lately. Florence and the Machine... um, gimme Kate Bush.

I'm to saying it's good, I'm saying it's popular.

And yes, Florence owes much to Kate Bush, as do most of the new batch of female artists, from Bat for Lashes to My Brightest Diamond and so forth.

I'm only half joking when I say she looks like a transvestite.

as i said in another thread, to me she's a split between kate & siousie...

and yeah, she looks a little odd---but c'mon, big deal. but i've had her new album for a couple of weeks, and it's good. she's got a strong voice w/some good songs & great hooks.

Yes, she's a real artist. Owes a lot to past performers, but still pretty refreshing compared to the Katy Perry's of the world.

no arena bands on the bill. not a whole lot of similarity among them. and while its true that florence and mumford are both presently very hot and good sellers [and pretty good], bands dont sell well at weenie roast shows because their fans know they'll only play 5 songs. this is especially true dragging the bay area crowd out to oaktown. i agree it wont nearly sell out, but live 105 and live nation will surely give away a ton of tix to make it look full. and by the way the venue wont be set up for 20000. more like 15000 or even less with no seats behind the stage. all that said, if this were in my town in a nice theater, i'd go. its a nice lineup.
