I skimmed through the book. It reads like some kind of university music or audio engineering course thesis paper/essay. I don't think there's anything new in it because it looks like he drew almost entirely from magazine articles and other publicly available secondary sources.

That's not completely true. The author interviewd Ron Champaign (engineer) and Dave Jerden and a couple of other studioguys which makes for some interesting new info. It's a bit of a hit and miss book. On the albums where he interviewd people for it's a good read (NS, RDLH, Deconstruction) Other albums get a lesser treatment like Satellite Party. Also strange that PfP albums are in there but no solorecords and no TPC while SP is. Not really complete but still interesting I thought. It reads like a first draft. Lay-outwise it's very basic. Tha't's a shame, but hey, it's not that expensive so what the heck.
