But I love so much of the album it's actually had to pick. I've probably listened to it 4-5 times now.

1. Curiosity Kills
Has a real weird combo of old-JA w/ Brian Eno/Coldplay type stuff going on ... makes it actually interesting to listen to... not just that soaring U2-wannabe song that comes right after it.

2. I'll Hit You Back
Intro sounds a bit like that Joy Division rip-off stuff of the last 10 years... She Wants Revenge, Interpol, etc... but then goes back into Coldplay-sounding repetitive piano/guitar stuff, some a bit like Song Yet To Be Sung... it's definitely a new sound for JA, but it isn't stupid... and Perry's vocals fit it a lot better than they fit the stuff on Strays...

3. Ultimate Reason
This song is great. It sounds like The Tea Party, and I love The Tea Party. The chugging guitar is great. Gives it an eastern vibe they'd been lacking up to this point.

That's my top 3.

I'm currently pleasantly surprised with much of this album, and the parts that aren't surprising are hard to complain about since we already know why they're that way, and clearly they'll never fix everything. I'm undecided about the overall quality of the album.

Good call on The Tea Party! I was thinking the same thing.

This album is going to require me to set up my old sound system and bose speakers. No computer for this CD. I like the album. No classics but hell when was the last time the Stones made a classic song. It's a lot better than a what a lazy band could throw out. They definately didn't mail this one in. Songs like Bring the Mood or SoulMate would have been mailing it in.

I like Hit You Back, Curiosity Kills and End To The Lies best.

Much as I love Perry, Dave, etc., unfortunately that song was already done better:

Oh, absolutely. But I figured I shouldn't skip over a step in the historical order of things.

My top 3:

1. End to the Lies
2. Ultimate Reason
3. Twisted Tales

I felt this weird shame while typing "Ultimate Reason"... too much cornyness. But there you go.
