Upcoming Guitar World Interview with Dave

This might have good insight on what his role was in Jane’s the past two years but I’m also looking forward to him talking gear/music… he always speaks well with that

"If I'm being honest" will be said at least twice in this interview

Pretty good.

Relived and excited to hear an album is in the works. I had a feeling, but knowing it’s not 2 songs released digitally is a relief to some extent.

Great read- love when he gets into the weeds about guitar and music

Good to see how passionate he is about recording and it’s cool how Eric is producing him to an extent. I’m also glad that he was really passionate about the band the entire time his status was up in the air the past two years

I love Janes and love Dave. Can't wait for this tour and a new album. It really does feel like they are back in the best way possible.

As much as I love them, they are fucking living in a dream... Man, i'd like to know which song supposed to last 7mn was extended to 12 mn because of the free jam they instigated ? Come on Dave, 30 seconds, I would agree but there is nothing close to an extended version of any song that has ever been recorded... Or i would be pleased to hear it :)

These guys really need to be interviewed by some hard-core fans so we can get better follow up questions and also some of the long-time questions the community has had answered.

Pretty sure he was just talking about Three Days and there wasn't a whole lot more to read into it.

I sincerely doubt he actually knows the length of the original track.

Yeah, I still don’t know about that. He might have long covid, but I think he had a little something else, too. It’s his business, and it’s just good to see him back and totally engaged. Dude is special.

The interview didn’t explicitly mention an album, but I took the line about Imminent being the most straightforward rock song they had to mean among the new material. Because Had a Dad is a pretty straightforward rock song.

Really? I saw him talking about being in the studio and working on new songs, but didn’t see anything explicitly confirming an album. Might have missed it, but I read it more than once.

Yeah but when the interviewer mentions the new song with a new album to follow I assumed he got the info from Dave before saying that.

Here’s the quote:
Good health and vibes are all around. There’s new music in Imminent Redemption – their first song with Avery since 1991 – and a new album to follow. Navarro says it’s not a rehash, but a rebirth. “The early days were really magical; we can never repeat that.

“The inner turmoil added to the angst and the ferocity onstage. That doesn’t exist anymore, so we’ve moved into this new realm of exploration in sound, which is much more healing.”

It's almost Machiavellian the way the interviewer mentions in passing the proximity of a new album and then doesn't mention it in the interview or ask directly what should be the most expected question. It's sadistic, and it's deliberate.

If they really have recorded a new album, what reason could there be for not announcing it clearly? It's highly suspicious. A tactic of confusion and torture befitting a totalitarian entity.

There it is, just not in the interview proper. Journalistic standards aren’t what they used to be, but I’d take that as at least a tacit admission of an album, even in the absence of a direct quote.

Hoping it’s properly before the next leg of a tour that actually includes Pacific Northwest or northern CA.

I’m guessing there’s 0% chance the album comes out this year. Maybe another single. I do know they’re planning on 2025 being “all Janes,” so I’m guessing they spend the winter finishing the album, release it in late Spring and then do a Janes only headlining club tour. They have plenty of larger markets to hit next year that are getting left out this year.

That would be my guess. Hoping Perry (and vibes) hold up.

When the P4P songs and tour was happening I figured a new album in fall with a tour —now though I think a new album would be in like March of 2025 then a big summer tour to follow.

Maybe there’s a new song for the Love and Rockets tours with an official announcement Of the new album?

Dont New albums take about three months to release for the moment it’s done?

So is Eric the Producer or just overseeing quality control?

And if improvising in the studio is what Dave did in 1.0, I’d like him to do it again. He’s so good at it and the results were brilliant.

Why change your approach if your best work was achieved with a different method? Seems counterintuitive.

I think he should switch back to his Les Paul or Ibanez if he really wants to capture the 1.0 sound. Use the PRS for live only
