Love Casey. Her flaws are relatable. Her quirks are still charming, and her claims are with merit. In terms of lifestyle and choices, I have way more problems with PF than her.

I love Casey as well and understand how complicated it must be. She deserves good and I wish her the best.

I just don’t get it. If they are that bad. That evil. Why maintain them in your life after 30+ years apart?

I am looking at this objectively. I have my own (albeit very small) history with the Farrells. I have no affinity for him personally.

I also spoke with Casey on a personal level about this topic over 20 years ago now.

I still don’t understand what she’s after here. At least back then she was a bit more transparent about how bullshit she thought it was that he had money and she was struggling.

Anyone that gives half a shit about Janes Addiction knows who Casey is. She doesn’t lack for recognition amongst the people that matter.

She knows she’s turning people against him/them all while continuing to “like” them. She had a large group of people go on the attack with her post, and now she submits this to HuffPost Personal. Again, why?

I would be far more compelled to believe it’s about being heard and seen if she wasn’t already such a very well known and revered quantity in the fan space. And had she not been given a platform in that same space many times over to express her dismay at not still being included.

she mentions how the wiki is edited ..that's always bothered me how wikis will often mention any random members as past member...but Jane's makes it look like Dave and Perk were the ogs who wrote those songs...and Ed, Matt and others are in the dustbin with Casey....but still...30 year old news

I can't believe she wrote an article just to list off the 5 things she did almost 40 years ago.

Nothing has stopped her from creating art since then, or utilizing the relationships she developed with musicians connected to the Jane's camp to pitch her artwork or music video ideas. None of those bands that opened for Jane's in those shows you self-promoted ever needed album artwork or tshirt designs? No one ever wanted instruments painted? It was 1993 and you couldn't find ANYONE interested in alternative artwork stylings?

It kind of just reads like every bitter musician who got kicked out of a band before they got even bigger.

I mean she is credited on the official videos and album liner notes. And is obviously known and respected as a muse by all 1.0 fans. Those were the days! Sucks that she didn't benefit more financially at the time but that's a question for back then. It just sounds kind of petty (no pun intended) and bitter now. Like every time the band is talking about 1.0 do they have to mention her by name?

At this point she should be thinking about just doing a damn documentary. Instead of calling people out, call them up.

Reconnect. Tell stories together, even if it's an argument about what happened. Maybe they'll be able to connect some dots that someone else forgot.

Reflect. Heal. Then submit it to film festivals and win yourself some awards. Sign a streaming deal with Amazon Prime.

For the amount of credit these people want for their creativity, I have seen more good ideas for this band come from this message board than I have from any of the "artists" themselves.

I’m really conflicted about this. She was a big part of the general vibe and aesthetic of 1.0. And if it’s true that she actually named NS and RDLH, that definitely extends more into something that’s “creative partner” like

At the same time… album sleeve pictures, Gift, artwork - none of this is the actual music of Jane’s Addiction. So idk what she really wants here beyond “you had anwesome ideas for the band”.

I said this in another thread, but it definitely would have been nice and very fair for the band to give her a shout in that insta post. Maybe talk about giving a merch cut now for shirts even though there was some kind of settlement 30 years ago? But for crying out loud, don’t take it to a place like this:

I think trying to understand motivations beyond money or respect are impossible. Does she want to design merch? Or an album cover?

Beyond getting the word out what is there?

I think her liking the social posts are maybe her way of getting in contact? Like saying “I’m here!”

But again to what extent?

Perry is very very different and Jane’s has been very different.

Closest I can see is she seeing the good vibes and seeing a last run and wants to either use their reunion to boost her profile/art ( most likely )

We played music together. I had my cherished Takamine acoustic, a gift from my father when I was 16. I taught Perry the basic chords, which he used to write most of the early Jane’s songs.

We’ve gone from the songs being written by Eric on bass, to Perry humming them in to existence, to Casey teaching Perry the chords to write the songs.

Im guessing she’s happy to see the social media outrage machine back in full swing against Perry again. He’s a “typical man” and a “creatively bankrupt fraud” since day 1. “Casey IS Janes Addiction.“

She was obviously a driving force behind the style, aesthetic, lyrical subject matter, album art, videos and overall vibe.

I don’t believe in the new songwriting claims. They are all bass centric songs. So, she showed Perry a guitar and he banged out a jangly little guitar part for Three Days that neither adds nor subtracts to the overall song (sorry).

How do you monetize what she contributed? All of her contributions are pretty much fee based that don’t earn additional revenue.

She should not be erased though. Like everything with Jane’s, more weird drama.
