If it weren’t for what I assume are the recently written lyrics to open the track, I’d tend to agree. It sounds like a very natural progression from GGU. Awesome to hear P4P stretch out a bit on a song. It makes me realize how absent that was from their output. That first album was all frenetic energy, which was amazing, and the second was more psychedelic. But if they could have married that in to more expansive and experimental songwriting they could have possibly bested Jane’s.

Come on. It's a great song. Clearly Perryz best output in some time. It has a vintage perry/janes/porno outro. I love it.

I like the music (distinctively Porno for Pyros) and the weird chorus about fingernails but Perry's intro just makes me wince.

Listening to these new songs reminds me of the feeling I get when watching new films by filmmakers/actors I liked when I was younger or modern sequels to old films.

There's enough there to satisfy my nostalgia and I can see/hear glimpses of what made me love these people/films/music in the first place.

But ultimately I don't love the new stuff in the same way and it lacks the originality and vitality of what came before. That doesn't make it bad art, just not something I can get passionate about.

I’d agree except Ocean Size, Up the Beach and Summertime Rolls too anything on GGU. By order of magnitude. But, most of GGU stood the rest of NS. Those three songs are so incredible though, and SO important, that they automatically make NS a 9 for me, while I give GGU a 8. Ritual however is a 10.

But man, Up the Beach in to Ocean is one of the greatest two song punches in rock record history. I can’t hear that opening bass line with Perry’s vocalization exploding through without getting chills every time. It’s such a fucking pronouncement that the crazies are arriving on a lot of drugs and it’s going to be unrelenting.

+ 1. It’s magnificent. It has a sound all its own, not unlike in utero or soup. NS has some stronger songs, but I will take the totality of GGU’s songwriting and production any day. F those NS reverby 80s drums; it pierces my eardrums. I really wish we could have NS if was mixed like the demos of those songs on KW… At least Stephen’s drum sound….
