Chris Chaney Joins AC/DC
Chaney will be the bassist for AC/DC for at least their Summer European tour.

That dude gets some good gigs. Good for him. He doesn't really look the ACDC part though lol.

Re: Chris Chaney Joins AC/DC
I honestly have never understood the appeal of Chris Chaney on any level whatsoever. He’s a generic session guy. Dan Cleary said something to the affect of “He’s the best bass player EVER!” To me, he’s the antithesis of that. He’s never written anything memorable and doesn’t have a distinct style. Totally “by the numbers”.

I thought their drummer was back, but he’s being replaced by another guy who played with Alanis Morrisette. I guess that’s how Chaney got the gig

No, he doesn't.
Those guys funneled Jack Daniels, snorted pool tables full of blow, and fucked thousands of strippers on every continent (yes, even Antarctica). Chris Chaney looks like his idea of fun is microdosing cat nip and getting soy milk enemas.

And now he continues to be alive and gets to play for AC/DC.
Seems like his idea of fun worked out for him.

The impression I’ve always gotten about Chris is that he’s extremely low drama and very technically proficient. He is not a great songwriter however and has very little on stage charisma.
So when you need a bass player that will show up and hit every note without fail, without bringing any bullshit with him, he’s your guy.
The more I learn, the more I understand them wanting him in Janes. Even if he didn’t fit in.

Re: Chris Chaney Joins AC/DC
The first time I saw him with Janes, which was the pre-Strays NYE show at the Wiltern, he seemed like a deer in the headlights and it appeared he was constantly looking at Dave for cues and playing very tentatively. After Eric, Flea and Martyn, he was a huge dip in not just stage presence, but playing as well. Over the years, especially after the '09 reunion and Duff, he seemed like a better, more confident player, especially on 2012 TGEA tour which was the last time I've seen Janes (can't believe it's already 12 years!).Hokahey wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 1:22 pmThe impression I’ve always gotten about Chris is that he’s extremely low drama and very technically proficient.
