Shannon Leto is the drummer for 30 Seconds to Mars

i am pretty sure 6/10 people wouldn't have gotten that joke. No worries.

That is some serious Dennis Miller sub-referential shit. :thumb:

Yeah still hearing Duran Duran. Not sure what the rest of you are talking about. I think the lyrics kind of suck and it takes forever to build or go anywhere. Or anywhere I want to go. The guitar solo was just fine, I little out of place but melodically the best thing on the damn song. I hate the vocals, there I said it.

Ok, listened again. This is the power ballad of the album. It's not that bad, but not my favorite.

Best song that I hadn't heard yet (ETTL is better).

Just made it to the chorus... what the fuck is this? I do not like the vocal style at all. Sounds like some fucked up 70's classic rock thing. That is just my knee jerk gut reaction, but the whole album was great to solid to tolerable so far, until this.

i like the mood change w/this tune at 3:10---perry's vocals at the end stand out strong here for me...

This is very Pink Floyd imo. I like Pink Floyd, but this song is going to take the most listens for me.

So I'm a little surprised there isn't a lot more discussion about this song. It didn't do much for me at first, but with every listen I'm starting to think it might be the best song on the album.

It certainly takes the band in a new direction, which I like. This is what Price I Pay wanted to be with it's mood changes, but this blows it out of the water (no pun intended).

It just feels like a very mature Jane's Addiction to me, in a good way.

it was my fave track right at the start but then it dropped a little as i liked others and tried to get into a couple more. Now that it's all balanced out though, and i'm comfortable with the album as a whole, it's top 3-4 for sure.

Good, good album.

I hate, HATE the: "Fore...ehhh..verrrr" part and the little "Whoah" embellishment. Nearly kills the song. I love it other wise.

It was my fave song after first listen and it still is. I don't know how many times i put that song on already. It sounds awesome over headhones, i love the beginning with the accoustic guitar - the guitar solo and the spacy middle part. I also think Perry sounds very good on this one. Great great song. And agreed - very mature.

sounds like perry listened to mama kin before writing this one

sleepin late and smokin tea .. same theme as stayin up smokin till 4 in the morning

splash a little water on it

keep in touch with mama kin ..

same phrasing almost the same melody

has some good parts in it .. at least its inspired by a good song instead of being inspired by glenn ballard

so far we have

underground - old perry techno demo
curiosity kills - yes "it can happen to you" rip
words out of my mouth - damned "neat neat neat" rip
splash a little water - gnr "mama kin" cover rip
i'll hit u back - alanis morrisette wanna be song "could sing most any alanis song over this music"
irresistable force - written and recorded in one day (nice effort guys, ya really marinated that song)
twisted tales - coldplay criss martin wannabe song .. might even be a coldplay song .. i don't listen to them enough to know which song they ripped
end to the lies - ozzy "no more tears" rip
ultimate reason - here comes ozzy zack wilde era again except the vocals (which are a bore)

broken people - not bad .. probably a u2 rip since thats what everyone else is saying

sure we could argue that 3 days is a rip between purple rain and stairway to heaven .. but not only are both songs GREAT .. but 3 days manages to move past the influence and make something great ... this record is more an effort to sound like something popular than an effort to meld influences into something new and ground breaking .. janes is corporate rock now .. and they clearly don't enjoy showing up for work anymore

This is my favorite track on the record by far. The atmosphere and the vibe remind me of the old Jane's and I think the lyrics are some of the better on the album. Perry's story is cool and sounds personal.

Agreed. I never liked Maceo or So What. The Riches is one of the songs on Strays that I like.
