Splash at least has character, along with just having a more compelling song structure.

I feel stupid for not having read the post before mine and therefore pretty much writing the exact same thing.

"The Riches" has the best lyrics of any nu-Jane's song... they are very coherent and compelling.

So, is "Splash a Little Water on It" about Xiola?!

Wow, really? I find them trite and insipid. TGEA lyrics pretty much toast most everything on Strays.

"The Riches" lyrics are a return to the nature-worship, almost pagan side of Jane's: "Ocean Size," "Summertime Rolls"...

The end part is insipid, but that was tacked on anyway.

When you put it that way, I can see what you're saying.

No, it's about Etty and his kids.

I think from 1:43 - 3:05 might be my favorite part of the entire album.

- Cool, atmospheric instrumental
- Nice verse
- The vocal echo at the end of the verse on "...yeeeeeeeaaahhhhh...."
- cue hot 80's guitar complimented by Perkins' snare and splash cymbal accents.

Good stuff.

This song has grown on me a lot, from the guitar solo until the end it's great, especially the bridge/final chorus. The first two parts just get a little repetitive, but a solid song.

I HATE the "Fore-eh-ver-er" part soooo freakin' much. As well as that extra "oh-oh-oh-oh".

Other than that I really like the song. The album is really starting to gel for me. Liking it more after every listen. It went from a 6.5/7ish out of 10 to a solid 8. Makes me nervous admitting that, but I think it will stay there.

Funny. I really like those parts.

I listen to this song daily. Along with Underground, IF and Curosity Kills (which I hated when I first heard the album).

There are a LOT of layers and nuances to these tracks. I hear something different everytime I listen to them.

yeah splash is one of my favorite songs on this album.....as is Curiosity Kills & Twisted Tales. Yeah i know it aint ritual part 2 or even remotely in the ball park. But one of the things I love about this album is that it's extremely hard to categorize in terms of genre....in that way, I think it's a proper shout out to old Janes. It's certainly better than Strays in my opinion. I've already listened to this album more

Tried listening to Strays yesterday just to see - and I just couldn't. Strays was Perry and co trying too hard to be Janes. TGEA sounds like them just going, "fuck it, lets just make some music." All the better for it too.
