I think two things are missing from the equation for this to happen.SR wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 6:14 amThis for sure. Years ago people here were convinced Perk had been archiving live shows from the soundboard and vids in the early years. I would love to hear those if they exist. I'd also love the PFP Belasco show from a year ago. I am clueless on the particulars of the business end, but I presume live shows would be released if they were projected to make money. So why not make them available to hardcore fans individually at a price? The one's still propping them up would be rewarded and the genie in the bottle wouldn't eventually suffocate.
I remember reading about this on either 1% or xiola and I asked him about it before a Banyan show. He did say he has (or at least had at the time I asked him) recordings (didn't specify audio or video. I'm guessing just audio) of his early shows from when he started with the band. It might only be a handful of shows or it could be a majority of them. I didn't ask if he could give me an approximate number, because when I asked years later (I think this was either 2002 or 2003) I doubt if he would even know.
Before we wrap all of this up, I’m going to get to the bottom of that damn poem.crater wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:09 pmI remember reading about this on either 1% or xiola and I asked him about it before a Banyan show. Maybe he will release them with a copy of the Three Days poem some day?
Perry mentioned in that vinyl guide interview back in April that Stephen is the the defacto archivist for the band and that he has tons of board tapes from shows and even videos behind the scenesSR wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 6:14 amThis for sure. Im also pretty sure he curated a cabinet of curiosities as well
There was a lot of work that went into that boxset that wound up being wasted effort (present-day band interviews, live show deep dives). The final product was a bust and doesn’t really say much about what Steve did or didn’t do, or what he has or doesn’t have.Mescal wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 9:42 amThere wasn't a lot of curation involvedsomeguy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:49 pmPerry mentioned in that vinyl guide interview back in April that Stephen is the the defacto archivist for the band and that he has tons of board tapes from shows and even videos behind the scenesSR wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 6:14 amThis for sure. Some demo tracks and a common live show, which was already included on Kettle Whistle. It's not that he went through his massive live collection to come up with that show
