“Ripple”
So this was the last thing the band recorded during the original era, to my knowledge. Does anyone know when it was recorded? It was recorded in North London and mixed in Los Angeles; just wondering exactly when they recorded it.

Re: “Ripple”
Based on tour history, would have to be somewhere around August or September 1990.

I'm pretty certain they recorded it at Konk studios in North London

Did JA cover this song prior to Deadicated ?

Yes. I was wondering if it was a cover song they may have performed on occasion during their shows. I think it was likely chosen just for the tribute album.

Should have played it that night. Hippie fest. Very long show with covers and rarities, rumored at the time to be the result of the fact that they agreed to play 90 minutes as festival headliner. Perry talked about the dead if I recall correctly. Perkins the deadhead should have insisted.someguy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 12:47 pmThey did a tease of it on ‘09… might be the only time they’ve done it

I think it’s the best thing on Deadicated and there was lots of cool stuff on there. But Ripple found its way into a GD vibe by jamming it into the other one and even a bit of bird song at the end. That’s what I’d love for sonny to have asked Eric about. I think Eric’s quote on the album is as to the effect that he had little or no knowledge of the dead. Outtakes from that session would be cool.
Fun fact - my next door neighbor for life Amy Wachtel, NYC reggae dj The Night Nurse, was friends with Burning Spear, who also did a song on Deadicated. Amy and I went to dozens of shows over the years including a few dead shows. When the dead played nassau that spring we picked up Spear (and his brethren) at his house in queens and attended the show together. Cool dude.
