I also like "Price I Pay" better than "My Cat's Name Is Maceo"; that doesn't mean I like new Jane's better than old Jane's. :noclue: I'm last person should be pointing a finger at when it comes to this issue.

I have zero plans to buy this new album.

yes it does
Now you're just being a troll. Fuck off.
dood, this place sounds like ja.org more and more everyday. everyone who thinks JA sucks is a troll? when did you people decide this?

justified positivity is one thing, but being positive so you don't hurt feelings is fake bullshit.

Huh? I never said that.

I was told I like new "Jane's Addiction" better than old Jane's Addiction...just because I like one new song by them more than one of their weakest old songs. That hardly constitutes that I like the new band more than the old band. As I said before, I don't plan on buying TGEA, nor have I considered anything post 1991 to be Jane's Addiction to begin with. :noclue:

maceo - original jane's addiction
whatever you like - new jane's addiction

if you like 'whatever' better than an original song 'maceo' then technically you do like new JA better than old JA.

the funny thing is eric avery mentioned that "embrace the darkness" was better than some of the weaker JA songs.

all of this leads to the problem with JA still using the name. it blurs this line between the two and no matter how we or the band try to separate the two eras, the name pulls it back together.

setlists including: superhero, twisted tales, end to the lies, ocean size, three days are nearly as wrong as perry playing mountain song or stop! off his computer with perryetty.

these things are obvious faults that i can't believe people disagree with.

Jesus Christ. Sonny, you really are a bitter man. I have no problems with anybody posting their opinions, but ironically your viewpoints are so slanted, they are just as worthwhile as PF's are (according to you) in regards to things like the Whores book, and EA fallout etc.

I'm sure in 'real' life you're probably alright, but having read some of the stuff you've thrown out over the last few days, when it comes to JA, you really need to get a life.

I guess, if you want to split hairs...which in this case, is pretty silly.

So I must "technically" like Katy Perry better than Nine Inch Nails because I like the song "Firework" and think "Starfuckers Inc" is a piece of shit. Never mind the fact that I own every NIN album and have seen them live, numerous times over the past 20 years. But yeah Sonny, you and Trevor are right...I must like Katy Perry better than Nine Inch Nails. :eyes:

i'm ok to disagree with ya.

i've been listening to those old songs for so long, and they are such a part of my life, none of the new songs could compare. if someone were to come along and just discover strays, ritual, shocking, triple x, and this new one, they could likely find some songs from the two new albums that are better than some of the old ones.

this is a problem for me because the original era is so sacred. this new album with it's nu-metal guitars, whitesnake synthesizers, and bono choruses is like something i barely recognize from the JA history.

'irresistible force' and 'ocean size' don't belong anywhere near each other, although similar in song structure, one fails and one is magic.

You spend half your day sat on here telling people that they're idiots idiots if they like the new album. It's clear that anything Jane's release without Eric is never going to be accepted by you. This is fine, but how about logging off for an hour or so and going for a walk? Or, alternately reword the same thing you've being posting for the best part of a week now.

Earth to Sonny. Stay on topic here. I AGREE WITH YOU. But that's not what I was even arguing.

Trevor was saying that if you like one new song by "Jane's Addiction" more than one by Jane's Addiction (please note the placement of quotations; I consider these two different bands), then you must like new Jane's better than old Jane's. He's splitting hairs and being hyperbolic. If I like "Cursed Male" more than "Idiots Rule" (in fact, I do), that doesn't mean that I think Porno for Pyros is the better band, compared to Jane's Addiction.

just to clear things up for all you confused and broken people

THERE IS NOTHING PRE 91 JANES THAT IS NOT 1000 TIMES BETTER THAN ANYTHING ON STRAYS OR ESCAPE ARTIST

IF YOU DONT AGREE THAN YES YOU ARE NOT A "REAL" JANES FAN I call for an ETTL

People who like "price I pay" better than "maceo" are not REAL fans. People who like "underground" better than "slow divers" are not REAL fans.

(can we get that posted on the header for future reference so that these nu kids don't confuse themselves anymore)

YES JANES WAS THAT GOOD OF A BAND BACK THEN

YES JANES ARE THAT BAD NOW ... THAT WE CAN MAKE THIS DISTINCTION IN SUCH BROAD STROKES AS TO WRITE OFF STRAYS AND ESCAPE AS COMPLETELY INFERRIOR TO ALL PREVIOUS JANES MATERIAL.

if this board is only for NU JANES fans than let me know ... i am not saying the new stuff is bad (not in this post anyway) .. but if u like that shit better than old janes than .. :hs:

i am very very very sorry that i spelled Geoff Lynn wrong .. I am not a big ELO fan but my point is still valid

I am not a troll. I love the band Janes Addiction .. I am not too thrilled about Katy Perry Ferrall and the Nu Janes on the Block .. but I still like to talk about them

wha? wha's wrong wit dat?

:boobs:

I saw the original Jane's Addiction (in 90 and 91) and have been a fan for 22 years. You sound like a hyperbolic jackass. "You're either with us or against us". Even if Strays and TGEA didn't exist, I still wouldn't like "Slow Divers" or "Maceo"; I didn't like them in 1997 and I don't like them now.

I guess I'm not a "real fan" despite the fact that I have zero plans to buy TGEA and haven't listened to Strays in years.

see now thats some truth .. you don't REALLY like old Janes that much .. thats fine .. can i be right and not a hyperbolic jackass at the same time .. there is not with us or against us .. its just if you like the new janes better than you have really bad taste .. if we are just honest about that fact i am sure we will all get along just fine .. no need to call names or get all mad or ask your mommy to burp you or change your diaper over it .. here let me smoothe it over some more for ya :boobs: :boobs: :boobs: :hehe:

The reality is, "Slow Divers" and "Maceo" just aren't very good songs...hence why they never made any of the original albums.

so what you really really really love "stop" but don't like "slow divers" at all?

maybe "mountain song" is your favorite but "my time" blows?

me no speakie ur language me speakie janglish .. from when all janes was good and no one could deny

when "janes is really good" actually meant "janes is really good" not "janes addiction sounds a lot like coldplay now"

If there are 10 people in the room, 2 of them will be assholes no matter what. That's life! I was actually shocked at how many people were at the show last night singning every lyric. I thought there were only a few diehards left. Not all fans/haters hang on the internet all day.

slow divers and maceo ARE really good songs

divers expecially .. outstanding .. "was being saved for something special" was what it said in the liner notes wasn't it?

I fucking love "My Time". :thumb:

But I'm not going to say that "all old Jane's was perfect" or something to that effect. All of my favourite bands have recorded weak songs (original Jane's, Led Zeppelin, Nick Cave, Siouxsie, The Doors, etc)

I'd say 95% of old Jane's is perfect and 95% of new Jane's sucks shit. :noclue:

Now get the stick out of your ass and replace it with some objectivity.

sentence 1 sounds about right .. give or take 5% :lolol:

why can't I objectively state that underground is NOT a better song, computer blip, rehash, or whatever u wanna call it, than SLOW DIVERS, without being told I have a stick up my ass?

it's hard enough being right and having the responsibility to break it to these yolks but to get dogged for too ... i guess its the price .. its the price .. aaaaouuuuuuuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwww it's the price that i paaaayyyeeeeeeeeeee ..
