Re: Dave's Return?
I’d prefer any co-writing on the album to be minimal if it has to happen (confined to a song or two). I don’t want to hear Dave just re-do someone else’s parts.
And as far a guest stuff - not really necessary at this point imo. Just keep wide open for Dave to do his thing.

Re: Dave's Return?
My main concern is about the heavy red neck sound that will probably try to hide the fear of not being relevant, that appeared with Strays and flourished in TGEA (guitar, drum, bass, all of you). Guys, if you hear me, don't take any steroids ! Be true, forget the wall of sound, light is beautiful.
Re: Dave's Return?
Just saw Dan's image. Agree that that's pretty damn encouraging.

Like he did on the OG songs adding his own touches?Noonesshocking wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:46 am//I don’t want to hear Dave just re-do someone else’s parts.

I wonder how much songwriting each member did on the later records?

I guess to clarify, I’m fine if it’s guitar parts Eric wrote. I just wouldn’t like it if it was like “hey Dave welcome back, Josh wrote these parts go ahead and just redo them”
Re: Dave's Return?
I don't think he'd re-record what Josh already did. They'd probably wipe Josh's part clean and let Dave come up with something of his own.Noonesshocking wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:45 amnausearockpig wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 1:09 am[quote=Noonesshocking post_id=155570 time=1707158766 user_id=389]//I don’t want to hear Dave just re-do someone else’s parts.

Oh of course, I forgot about the 24h thing.
That actually makes more sense, given the situation. A cautious, indirect 'leak' instead of a fanfare.
That is really encouraging!

Let's hope Dave's healthy and back permanently .. and it doesn't all go to shit.
I'm excited about the upcoming shows

Re: Dave's Return?
Doesn’t really deserve it’s own thread but apparently Chaney is joining AC/DC for their upcoming tour. I think Panic Channel used to cover back in black or something. Maybe Dave is helping him get up to speed with those songs

haha and then send Josh back a box of cassette tapes of all of Josh's parts, with a note "Josh, thanks, we didn't use these. You may want them..." reminds me of this hahahah https://27bslash6.com/overdue.html

Re: Dave's Return?
Based on tour dates that were announced for Pearl Jam and Queens of the Stone Age, it looks like a Dave return seems like the plan - unless there is some heavy travel planned for Josh/Troy to fill in where there aren't overlaps, or they are pulling out of their other tours altogether.
Here are the batches of dates for each band around the Jane's dates:
Jane's: UK 5/23, UK 5/26, UK 5/27, UK 5/31, UK 6/2
Pearl Jam: Los Angeles 5/21, Los Angeles 5/22, Napa Valley 5/25, Seattle 5/28, Seattle 5/30 (no exact date conflicts, but crazy travel would be needed)
QOTSA: Napa Valley 5/26 (conflict with Jane's UK)
Jane's: Germany 6/4, Germany 6/6, Switzerland 6/10, Italy 6/14, Spain 6/18
Pearl Jam: No dates during this window
QOTSA: Denmark 6/7, Denmark 6/9, UK 6/14 (conflicts with Jane's Italy), Spain 6/18 (conflicts with Jane's Spain)
Jane's: Netherlands 6/23, Germany 6/25, France 6/26, Ireland 6/28, Luxembourg 7/3, Belgium 7/4
Pearl Jam: Ireland 6/22, UK 6/25 (conflict with Jane's Germany), UK 6/29, Germany 7/2, Germany 7/3 (conflict with Jane's Luxembourg)
QOTSA: Spain 6/20, Spain 6/23 (conflict with Jane's Netherlands), Spain 6/24, Spain 6/26 (conflict with Jane's France), France 6/27, France 6/30, Italy 7/4
I know there is some friendliness between the Jane's and Pearl Jam camps, as the band that is opening the P4P tour starting tonight (Tigercub) is signed to Stone Gossard's record label, so I'm guessing there's been some conversations there in relation to Josh and any potential Jane's/Pearl Jam duties and dates.
Here's hoping for Dave on all dates though!

Re: Dave's Return?
Josh doing both is a nonstarter based on those dates. I don’t think even Phil Collins would make it from LA to the UK in that window of time. Nor flying West to East. You lose 8 hours.
Re: Dave's Return?
Seems like it’s trending positively toward Dave coming back. He shared the rock hall nom on his insta which was his first music/Janes related post in forever.
If that doesn’t pan out I’m sure Josh is stepping in again. There’s been no clarity on if he’s playing with PJ as of yet

All we know at the moment is that he has a writing credit on their new single Dark Matter. He played piano on it.someguy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:49 amSeems like it’s trending positively toward Dave coming back. I know that doesn't say much about his touring intentions, but, at very least, he is on their new album.
Re: Dave's Return?
Yeah he’s apparently all over the record, with one substantial writing credit on a song called “something special” (i think that’s the title at least)JOEinPHX wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 1:18 pmAll we know at the moment is that he has a writing credit on their new single Dark Matter. I really hope he’ll be back for the shows in May
