Selfishly I want him to come back. If he's done though and gets clean, then ok that's fine too. As long as he gets his life together is really all that matters. What I said before I think in this thread or maybe the what makes Dave great thread is I don't want him to record the songs with Jane's, then never play them live because then I'll always compare them to his playing. I'd rather the people who played/wrote the parts on the album, be the person playing it live.

Josh seemed to be growing into those songs show by show. What I kind of fear is they'll be crushing it after this Australian tour, then Perry will do P4P for like 6 months and they'll lose the live momentum/timing. I think if they recorded after that tour, they'd be able to put together something solid. I thought they were really good in October/November at the 2 shows I saw. Well they blew that out in Las Vegas. So I feel they need to strike while the iron's hot.

Speculation, but looking back now, it probably went down like this, right?...
Jane's plays a show with Foo Fighters. Dave relapses with Taylor and Taylor dies.
A few months go by and Jane's wants to start up again with Eric, but turns out Dave is still using and that's a nonstarter for the band at this point.
They give Dave some time to try to get clean but he keeps using.
Dave finally goes to rehab as Jane's are back rolling with replacement guitar.
...
Dave gets clean and rejoins Jane's?
I’d stay this is just about spot on

This is a horrifying thought.

I never put that together but — it makes a terrifying sense

Ugh

I also agree that if he does come back, it could undo all the stuff that is seemingly making the band so great right now

Janes wasn’t in South America- this was the start of Dave’s long Covid issues and they cancelled. It was just Perry who joined Foo’s last show with Taylor

Also it’s been one year- RIP

All I really know is that Taylor, Dave and Chris were extremely into NHC. They were constantly posting about it on their socials, and the band page was posting a lot of content as well. There were interviews and talk of a full album.

Then, at the end of 2021, Taylor had that incident on an airplane on the way to a connecting flight to Dubai and NHC went radio silent. Literally overnight, a barrage of NHC posts to pretty much nothing. I found this extremely odd and actually had been wondering if FF would even go through those South American shows. That just seemed like a really bad sign.

There are a lot of bullshit rumors around what happened, but to me, the abrupt silence from NHC was just telling. I was shocked when the news came out but my radar had been up. I know we’ve kind of all argued about this here but, the fact that not a single OG member from JA was involved in the tribute concert is just a head scratcher.

Agree! Even if the band had engagements elsewhere they could have done a video tribute like other musicians who weren't able to attend.

Not only that, none of them said/posted anything about TH until well after he died...not that I saw anyway.

It might be political with Chaney too. Him and Taylor go way back and with the lineup change it was probably a very sensitive situation. It looks like he’s still tight with the Foo Fighters camp

It’s weird how this entire thing is tied to Hawkins.

Like he’s playing with Dave and calling Eric about reforming, so Dave would presumably be aware that his band mate was in touch with Eric ?

The weird nexus point with him and then his passing and Dave being MIA is just so odd

Thanks for posting that link. I DID see that! My bad...I retract my comment about nobody in the band saying anything; I forgot about it.

Around 15 min mark Josh says he didn’t really talk to Dave before stepping in. Just a few texts back and forth.

Didn’t he work with Troy to an extent before the tour last fall?

I thought I remember Troy saying it was a phone call. Nothing significant.

He also seems to say he’s only texted and talked with Dave in the past. He says he didn’t talk to him before stepping in.

It’s still weird to me how much better of a band they turned back in to.

I know it's probably eased a bit by how much I enjoy Josh as a musician, but yeah, totally feel the same way.
