Sleaford moss crack me up! I had no idea that they were known in North America! Are Fontaine’s DC big there too? They’re on Italian radio a lot which seems quite strange given their strong accents

The Sleaford Mods seem to be popular here, the shows always sell out. Same with Fontaines D.C. I like them! Saw them a few years ago...one of their first North American gigs.dannyboy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 11:39 amSleaford moss crack me up! I had no idea that they were known in North America! Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
I still wonder if Dave has a terminal diagnosis or some other life altering thing going on (not “long Covid”). Plenty of photos of him from the past couple of years where he looks awful. Again, it could be the byproduct of addiction and/or depression…but it makes one wonder. Spin Magazine posted on Instagram about Dave sitting out again and the photo they used is pretty unflattering…he looks terrible.
Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
Personally, I haven't seen Eric with the band since 1990, so if they play near me, I shall go.
And globally I'm pretty glad that the line up changes a bit. As I read somewhere in this forum, Dave was just covering himself for years, he's playing was nothing near dangerous. So I'd like to see Josh doing the job. It can only be more exciting.
Pete is P4P, I don't want them to mix it up.
The worst thing that could happen to me is all 4 guys playing their 12 songs.
This band needs some fresh air.

Oh wait, wrong band…

I've been suckered in. Since miggy brought me in xiola back in 2008... what a fucking cult.Hokahey wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:16 amMicrowavedGerbil wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:34 amI obsessed with Jane's in 2006-2008 as a middle/High schooler. But as I'm growing older. Who really even still cares for this band? Their music is outdated and their live performances are a joke (Perry Farrells tendency to sing in vocal melodies parallel to what's recorded). I think janes are a perfect example of a cult in music.. should have died off forever in 1991 (with a proper farewell 1997 tour). Janes should have disappeared without a trace and their legacy would not have been tarnished but remain legendary.
Also, TLDR me the drama between Dave and Jane's because the comments sure seem to hint at something other than Dave fighting a flu.
It’s also a little bit of a ritual or habit (winky face) for a lot of us to keep up with the latest Janes drama and hang out with each other here.
Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
Dave liked the post- first acknowledgement in forever. maybe he requested to keep what’s going on with him as private as possible and he might be good to go after this run?

What’s weird situation.
I actually think the band is doing a pretty good job of being as open as possible. I suspect it was, or has been day to day with Dave.
Josh tends to be sloppy, so I’m fascinated to see how it plays out. I’m so used to Dave playing everything note for note.

i'm sure if it were up to the band dave of course would be there. at least they let everyone know a few months out this time.
josh would not be my first choice. i just think he looks silly jumping around on stage. maybe that works for the chilli peppers but it doesn't quite fit jane's.

That won't age well,

I think that was Chester Bennington's original band, if I remember correctly.Hokahey wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:31 pmWith some shitty nu metal band. Jesus.creep wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:30 pmdave is actually working on new music.![]()

Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
I hate even posting this, but someone sent me a close up picture of Dave’s arm from a recent picture and there’s a big abscess on it. A huge hole. It looks terrible. Just absolutely heart breaking to see. For me that sort of confirms things.

Whoa- I would hope he sought medical help for that because that looks alarmingly bad

Gutting, though not in the least bit surprising. And it's the thing that begins to explain all of the weirdness around all of this. From the stuff with the band/tours to observations of his personal life from his various IG posts.
Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
So what's the hole in the arm from? Heroin?
Re: Josh Stepping In For Upcoming Shows
That’s really sad. When you add it all up, and with this picture as proof, it explains all the activity since the lead up to the SP tour.
It’s been really weird, the way Dave’s open door/not around status has been tolerated.
-If he quit Jane’s, they are pathetic not moving on.
-If Dave is sick and unable to tour, is he really posting pics of himself doing graffiti art and not of himself laying down a Jane’s guitar track?
-Perry’s reaction to the Dave question in the clip posted somewhere here kind of says it all. Sadness and hoping for the best. I think the interview was during the SP tour.
-If he did quit, why is he being mysterious about it too?
If this is the deal, Perry, Stephen and Eric are being very classy in the way they are handling this. Eric is involved, the integrity is there, I’m sure he’s aware of how it looks from the “you’re withholding Dave’s involvement to sell tickets” standpoint. I think for both tours they had guitarists lined up, hoped for Dave until the point of no return, then moved on for those shows without him when they passed a certain calendar date leading up to the shows.
I see no fault from Jane’s and hope for nothing but the best for Dave.
