If Dave is on the east coast ( posting about putting up posters in Jersey )

My new crackpot theory is:

Troy is out. Dave is in NY ( bands last show was MSG ) practicing with the band and will join the band after the Canadian dates.
If this is the case, it’s awesome for the future of the band…but a totally dick move for fans in Pennsylvania and Canada.

Unless the "injury" was to Troy.

You know, it could be something as stupidly comical as Etty catching Perry with the other two Jungle Gym Hookers (see, that caught on) in their room on a bondage rig with cattle prods and Etty going Catagory 5 and clocking Perry with one of her high heels which stuck in his eye like an olive onna stick. Hell, even a mundane near-overdose isn't a big deal. I mean it's rock n' roll - no matter how outrageous, tragic or lame the situation might be, it's ultimately press that the band could certainly use at the moment. IMO, whatever the issue is, it's either seriously bad as in say, someone had an an aortic dissection and is in a coma or dead or it's gigantically pathetic like someone had a hissy fit and smashed his cock with a ballpeen hammer. Usually when a group of people clam up about a situation, it's so they can all get their stories straight.

Finally, in usual "What If" fantasizing, here's possible options to continue the tour:

Perry out - get Iggy Pop or David Lee Roth to replace
If Stephen is out - get Mikkey Dee or Sheila E
Eric out, go for Adam Clayton in a ball cap, no would would know the difference. Or go Gonzo and bring in Billy Sheehan
Troy craps out and Dave is still spray painting panic channel logos on boulders in Yosemite, draft the widdly-diddly king, Yngwie Malmsteen or Joe Satriani. However if the budget won't allow for such players, aim low, bring in Mick Mars.

If there's no way to get any sort of iteration of Jane's Addiction out there, plug in Love and Rockets since they have some free time while Peter Murphy does his "thing."

Virtually confirmed rumors that Love and Rockets will be doing shows this summer. So, fuck this tour, and SP, and play this summer with L&R. Dream ticket for me.

Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace quietly made this post in the middle of the night at 3amEST. I’d bet we don’t hear a single word from the Jane’s camp today (Monday).

I’m sure Eric would’ve said something if he felt he could. It goes against everything he stands for to mislead people but I think he’s also loyal to his friends and won’t say anything public if he doesn’t feel it’d be the right thing to do.

This is a big tour and maybe it was a bridge too far.
They might be better off staying around LA, writing, recording and playing the odd show here and there. No rush, no pressure. Keep up the collabs though, I love that!

It's painful how easy that was to get right. Last-minute add, post once to create a small amount of intrigue less than a day in advance, knowing people will guess it correctly, then confirm it early.

Well, I haven't listened to OLP in maybe 20 years, but 12 year old me would be super-stoked to see them, so I guess I'll just enjoy a night out in Toronto tonight and pretend I'm a kid again while watching geriatric karaoke in a stadium. :noclue:

Make the best of it! It's another beautiful day at least. You could pre-show at a pub patio near Scotiabank arena. Have fun tonight!

I just tuned into Indie 88 to see if they say anything. They were giving away tickets for this tour.

Interesting he mentions mental health and "filling in" for Jane's Addiction.

Maybe Perry or Troy had an episode of some sort..Who knows. Sounds like an internal fight of some sort.

Based on Dave’s weird cryptic hieroglyphics — and the past tension based on the Sonny interview

maybe it’s Eric? Again is crazy speculation because we have no communication.

So much drama.

Damn, why does everybody keep pointing at Troy for the reason Jane's bailed the rest of the tour? I know he's new to the camp but as far as I know he has a reputation of being a pro and isn't some troublemaker or anything.

I had the same thought. He's not used to being out on the road with all of these guys and has been visiting some old haunts.

Like a manic episode/mental breakdown triggered by past memories/trauma??

Yes, that's what I'm perhaps describing. But who the hell knows? I do wonder if someone's mental health caused them to hurt themselves. That might help explain all of the secrecy and would tie a lot of pieces together.

One thought I had. Perry is not a promoter, but he’s kind of close enough to being one given his involvement with Lolla. He knows the seriousness of contracts and commitments. Billy has also been lobbying him to do lolla for next year. I find it very unlikely that a little fight or blow up created this situation. It’s too high profile to let it slip away like that.
