PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Completely forgot about this until just now- Perry confirmed two song titles back in July.
Aqua and Johnny’s Lucky Ring
I wonder if the latter is completely new

What about Little Me, Snapped and Fingernails? Porno, you were awesome this summer, need more. Jane's is a re-run with or without Avery. Seen it don't need it
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
bump.
Really want to hear them play "Tonight" if they ever go on tour. Sounds like The Cure sort of. Starts at about 14min in the vid below. The show is "1.0 Perry" without him jumping up on the drum riser like a monkey or hyperactive stage antics like he often does now. Back then he didn't need to be an acrobat he did his performance art as Perry 1.0 did best. He really should watch some of his older shows and try to do it that way.
Perry 2.0" over compensates with the jumping around. His acrobatics takes away rather than adds anything to the performance. Maybe Etty has him act that way? That said, Porno 2022 sounded great with all original members, is a stronger band than Jane's 2.0 with a fill in guitar guy, klinghuffer or anyone else they get to satisfy Eric.

A large part of me agrees with the overall sentiment/set of observations here....lucio wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:02 pmbump.

Then again, I think about the human I was 30 years ago. Do I walk the same? No. Do I think or feel the same? Shoot me if I do. If someone told me to look back at who I was so that I could ape my younger self....well...insert expletives. The Perry we loved was unique - he conjured magic, At best, we can want and hope for originality from him. The only thing worse than having Etty dress him like Liberace is to have him reach for a contrived version of what he used to be.
Bump away.

I totally agree PB. I often catch myself holding Perry and co. to much higher standards than those I hold myself too.
They’ve already given me so much, all I should want is for their health and happiness.
Sometimes easy to forget that though!

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Perry doesn't have a problem repeating 10 of the same 1.0 songs live for the last 20 years. Not much to ask him to be like 1.0 Perry with the performance art.
The record I'd like to have after Good Gods would be called "Hard Charger". I think "So What" would've been really cool if Porno recorded it. Same with" Ripple" using the Pets type of guitar production.

From Martyn's twitter they're in a studio now. We might soon get the "written but not recorded" LP Pete's talked about for years.
I'm guessing these songs date back to 1992 and they're classic 1.0 tribal style Porno - by looking at Perk's drum set up in that studio.
Hope to see some studio footage, or at least a band interview.

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Looking forward to this more than even Jane’s. Pete and Perry
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Same here. I think from what I've seen they've hinted about what they're now doing in the studio
1. Some of the songs will be aggressive tribal like Perkins used to do. Perkins drum setup has been featured most in the recent Porno photos. His drums may become the driving force like they were on the 1st Porno record, Gobalee, and a few of Song Yet to be Sung tracks he played on.
2. The latest studio pics are b&w, may mean to take us back to the "classic" Porno style of their 1st record.
3. Perry has said in recent interview that he wanted to return to his roots.
4. Perry's hair is blond in recent pics, it was that color at times during Porno's early days when they had more of a alternative, punk style.
5. Perry voice has changed for better in recent live shows, has more of a punk sound to it which has been missing since Porno broke up.
Martyn's bass lines were an important part of Porno, sometimes taking the lead with a funk style. The bass guitar has been lacking in most Perry related music projects of the 2000's, 2010's.
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
those song titles don't sound very promising
Fingernail
Johnny's Little Ring
Little Me
Aqua
Snapped
Maybe it's a concept album

Everyone can relate to cooking rice all around the world. That was the genius of that song.

Have they confirmed little me and snapped?

Can I ask you a serious question, are there any songs on Ritual you consider shitty?
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
I think they knew it wasn’t album worthy. But I liked it just fine. It was in the vein of something like City. Perhaps it had hidden meaning about “cooking” but otherwise it was just an odd, simple little tune, which Perry used to do really well. Not everything needed to be Three Days. At least it wasn’t the contrived, pop songwriting that has dominated his career post SYTBS. Speaking of which, that remains an underrated album. Had the theme not been so specific and the lyrics more general I think it would have been at least a little better regarded. But it was an odd album with interesting lyrics and rhythms. But that’s perhaps for another thread.

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
They definitely knew it wasn’t album worthy. I would argue it wasn’t even B-Side worthy. And I get that it’s comparable to a song like “City” or “Maceo”…but I still think it’s lame. Obviously, they can’t all be “Three Days”, nor should they be. That being said, as much as we all have issues with the “reunion”/Eric-less albums, a song like “Price I Pay” blows “Cook the Rice” out of the water.Hokahey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 12:54 pmI think they knew it wasn’t album worthy. As for the SYTBS album, I love(d) it. It was just three years too late for the electronica/dance explosion of 1997. If the album had come out then, it might’ve had more traction and gained more recognition.
Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
Etty probably wouldn't like it if they played cook the rice live and paraded her around in a geisha outit.

Great point- 2001 was an awkward, transitional year for a lot of music in generalTyler Durden wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 1:15 pmHokahey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 12:54 pmI think they knew it wasn’t album worthy. Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
See, I’ll take Cook the Rice over Price I Pay. Price I Pay is a better song on paper, but Cook the Rice still feels more like early 90s Perry. He’s still just weird and singing about life instead of trying to write a hit rock song. It just feels more…authentic.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 1:15 pmThey definitely knew it wasn’t album worthy. I would argue it wasn’t even B-Side worthy.
