underground - like the trippy reggae prog rock groove groove - lyrics not too bad .. big strays like chorus .. better than strays but still very comercial modern rock radio like strays on the chorus .. kinda predictable and stock chorus esque

end to the lies - lyrics still bug me .. too poppy .. sounds like another modern rock wannabe song and also sounds like ozzy osbourne song 'no more tears'

curiosity kills - this one reminds me of satellite party a lot .. the music is kinda cool .. lyrics are kinda cool .. melody is ok .. the production and vocal layering might detract from really enjoying this one, but not the worst ideas

irresistable force - i am super happy they let us remix this song, cuz i find this mix really annoying but I got to make my own mix that actually sounds like janes

i'll hit you back - hmmm .. hate the verse chorus verse chorus solo verse chorus short rock song approach that is implied in these clips .. the short length of the songs implies that likely all songs employ this very un-janes formula (not that old janes didnt do that sometimes) no sign of an epic on the horizon, and I was never really that into janes shorter songs, unless it was mytime .. the chorus on this sounds foo fighters or queens of the stone agey .. not a bad thing but not a janes thing either .. not happy about janes trying to sound like modern rock again .. or the pseudo nin type layering on the chorus music .. actually scratch nin and put glen ballard, alanis morrisette in there .. she could sing over that music and it would sound just normal for her ..

twisted tales - perky sounds like a drum machine .. he is playing the same beat as every funk flavored song on modern rock .. very coldplay u2 ... like the chorus tho .. i might forgive the copycat music

ultimate reason - not much to judge .. some of the sounds are interesting but nothing here really grabs my attention yet

splash a little water on it - this reminds me of stumbaline by smashing pumpkins .. sounds like a real band playing a decent song .. definately curious about this one

broken people - this is the only song so far that really does it for me .. i am worried perry will fuck it up but so far its the best thing on here

words right out of my mouth - i like the psi com style but psi com over produced as a metal band .. hmmmm not sure if t that is gonna really work

i have a bad feeling there are more bad lyrics to ruin all of the good ideas here and all the songs will be short stock modern rock bores .. still not sure i wanna pay for this one

I'm buying it. Second listen revealed some possibility.

I'd like nothing more than to discuss how my foot tastes. Here's to hoping. :thumb:

:slap: Don't give him any ideas. He already ruined Jane's; let's at least preserve Psi Com and Porno for Pyros.[/quote]

Agreed. P4P is sacred ground.

He's stated many times he plans on revisiting PFP at some point.

I gotta tell ya..The more I listen to these clips and the louder I listen to them..I am beginning to really fucking love them! This aint your 1989 Jane's. But it's new and could be quite good. I kinda hear a cross between Sugar/Smashing Pumkins/ and Porno. I don't know. I'm pretty excited though.

I captured the audio files and made an MP3 out of the clips... Been playing them loud in the car while driving around town. There's a few stand outs:
Underground: sounds like it would fit into the old catalog well. Plenty of effects on Perrys voice at the end of the clip.
Curiosity Kills: nice industrial/goth song from what I can tell from a 30 sec clip reminds me of Psi Com
Twisted Tales: Sounds like Jane's doing a Siouxsie and the Banshees song... I like what I hear
Ultimate Reason: Sounds like Nirvana with tribal drums... like it
Broken People: sounds like U2 with a little Pink Floyd mixed in
Words Right Out Of My Mouth: Sounds like a solid rock song...
IF: don't dislike it as much as most hear
ETTL: love the music and like the lyrics... minus the real head parts..

The only crap song is... Splash a little water on it...

For God's sake I hope it leaks soon so we don't have to remind ourselves how obsessed we are by over analyzing poor quality clips taken from the intros.

you mind uploading the mp3's? :eyes:

I just played these clips for my girlfriend, and she's into modern sounding music and just praised Janes for getting Sitek involved. Most of these clips sound fucking sweet.

Finally got to listen. Typed my impressions as I listened. All in all, a good portion of it sounds like a mix between GGU and SYTBS to me. Nothing that good though from what I can gather. Like B sides from an album recorded between the two.

1. Underground- Wow. Love the vocals. Sounds like classic Perry. This song could be amazing. Lyrics sound like classic Perry too.

2. ETTL - vocals sound really high in the mix. Might like this song more if it wasnt whining about Eric. I do still like the beginning "YOU!"

3. Curiosty Kills - Sounds a lot like something off of SYTBS vocally. Add a dance beat and it's right off that album. Not bad though. I always thought SYTBS sounded like a natural evolotion from GGU.

4. IF- Still a fan. I think Dave does such an incredible job on this.

5. I'll Hit You Back - Not digging it. At all. Sounds like rawk leftovers from Strays with more interesting production from Sitek and Costey.

6. Twisted Tales - Ugh. More Strays sounding garbage. Very straight forward radio rock. I do like Perry's vocals in the 2nd half of the clip.

7. Ultimate Reason - Vocals remind me of A Little Sadness. Again, sounds like a mix between SYTBS and GGU.

8. Splash a Little Water On It - Sounds like Use Your Illusion GnR to me. Sounds like Duffs bass. Weird. Sounds nothing like Jane's.

9. Broken People - Not much of an impression. Sounds like slow 80's rock.

10. Words Right out of my Mouth - Generic rock garbage.

6 out of 10

2 1/2 stars

All sounds about right.

Broken People reminds me of U2's 'a sort of homecoming' for some reason. But I actually find that 15 second clip to be a thing of beauty.

Here're MP3s of the clips I think - haven't used this in a long time :noclue: . Probably did it all jackass-like. Didn't include IR or ETTL.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe this site has different parts of short clips:

Yup, there's some overlap, but those are different slices.

It's bumming me out seeing people on here say that this or that new song sounds like U2 to them, because I've always hated that band

Me too. Hate them. There is no rhythm section, no backbeat at all, they just sort of dangle around the surface of the melody. There may be similar qualities to those melodies, but Jane's has Perk... they have rhythm.

I am really excited for Underground, Curiosity Kills, Twisted Tales, Splash a little Water and Broken People. I'll Hit You Back and Ultimate Reason are making me nervous. Words Right out of my mouth seems middle of the road, not too concerned.
