GGU, to me, almost sounds like a Love and rockets album. If Earth Sun Moon was a double album, GGU could pass for LP/disc nr. 2. Somewhere in another universe. It is good. Fucking unique. I'm happy Perry made it.

Read an interview in RS a few days ago where Chad was asked bout them playing Aeroplane on this tour, funny....he referred to this as the album stepchild, but Josh was good with the parts and seemingly wanted to play them.

it doesn't make much sense for Chad to say that cause it's one of their best albums, it has stood the test of time, so many great songs on it and the style and vibe is unique. It really is Jane's meets RHCP in their prime, what's not to love about that?! It completely blows Decon out of the water imo

BUT...my guess is that Anthony and Flea when they reflect connect the album with the fucked up things that happened at the time, John leaving, River Phoenix dying, Anthony relapsing every five minutes, their objectivity is gone.

I adore One Hot Minute it's easily their 2nd best after BSSM

It's so funny to me how such fierce regard is held for this album on a board that almost universally has disdain for the peppers.

AK is the Obama of R&R here. It's just his fault no matter what. Chad might think it's the stepchild for reasons other that what you all might think he thinks it for. I don't know the inner workings of the band, but Chad seems to me to be the one closest to objectivity as he was the one who lobbied so hard for DN in the first place.

I was biased against OHM for a really, really long time until I saw the love for it here and went back to it. It's a really good album, but as a long time fan of the band, it still doesn't resonate thematically with the bands musical/artistic history. It is an oddball, which in terms of R$R is a good thing I suppose. The altered or depressed state of mind that AK suffered through was real. SO was DN's I presume. If, and I mean IF AK looks back with negativity regarding the album, or the section of his life, or his behavior, or whatever and decides to put it in a box and set it aside ..... so fucking what? He addressed those demons and came out the victor.....
