That would probably require Perry putting in some kind of effort.phenobarb_bambalam wrote:Was it my imagination that suggested this was going to be coloured vinyl.....could have sworn that was the case, but it appears not....

You can't really blame everything on Perry ...Six7Six7 wrote:That would probably require Perry putting in some kind of effort.phenobarb_bambalam wrote:Was it my imagination that suggested this was going to be coloured vinyl.....could have sworn that was the case, but it appears not....

I picked it up last night at my local record store. $27. Sounds great. I was going to wait until after Christmas but started getting nervous when I saw you all had trouble finding it.

Cheers. It appears I had simply convinced myself....

I grabbed a copy from ebay from an Australian vendor (I'm in Sydney).
The sound quality on it is good, very happy with it.
The only downside is that I was hoping for nicer packaging e.g. gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve when it is in a plain white paper inner sleeve & single outer jacket. When I first heard it was being issued I was hoping for coloured vinyl like the first album too.

Jane only strips for him. He says so himself. Ask him. He'll tell ya.Mescal wrote:You can't really blame everything on Perry ...Six7Six7 wrote:That would probably require Perry putting in some kind of effort.phenobarb_bambalam wrote:Was it my imagination that suggested this was going to be coloured vinyl.....could have sworn that was the case, but it appears not....

Re: Porno For Pyros GGU Getting New Vinyl Reissue
didnt know where to put this, but the past two days ive been listening to porno's discography after having not listened to them for maybe two or three years.
it's much better than i remembered. i always enjoyed both albums, but something about coming back to it and knowing how shitty perry is now made me very appreciative of how good he used to be. still remember i got both porno albums at the same time when i got into them and listened to them on my cd player on a family vacation. i think i was 13 so listening to songs like Orgasm made me a certifiable bad ass any way, hearing the songs still brings me back to when i first got into JA and PP (cause i basically got into them at the same time because of my non-chronological time frame). i always thought of PP as a much weaker band just because the albums didnt compare to ritual or NS for me, but I think now I am finally appreciating them in their own right as really solid, odd, engaging songs. theres a lot of weird, beautiful shit on those albums. sadness still gives me goosebumps when the climax comes in - "i hate him for all the things he's done!" still amazing.
okay, thats my random, self-indulgent nostalgia dump. i wish perry was still artistic, but atleast he gave us some great albums.
this has probably been said a billion times already, but for the sake of asking anyway, when PP first came out - were you guys into the album or did you think it was a poor man's JA? I still don't think the albums touch JA's stratosphere because I'm not the biggest fan of Pete's playing style (especially compared to Dave), but I definitely think some songs are better than some JA songs.

Porno was rad always figured the s/t was an A to NS's A+
And the early shows had the Jane's shows crowd energy...For most at the time perry was Jane's...So porno was just new perry so people were stoked...That said pets as the first big hit kinda showed porno as a more stripped down chilled version...Perk played more stripped down as well...Pete was the new blood and between martyn and watt...Couldn't pick much better people to replace Dave and eric...The s/t is an LA time capsule for the riots
For me the second album lost the pulse...And really went chill, we are clean now vibe...Vs the s/t being the crack junkie album
For me, todays perry is the normal frontman route...Got rich, lost touch...I have zero problem with separating the old perry with todays...The old being the best frontman I've seen in my life of 100's of live shows whether it be with Jane's or porno
